Dr. Barakat is Vice Chair, Clinical Activities, Department of Surgery; Chief, Gynecology Service at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. He is warm and kind and understanding of all of your concerns and issues. His team are all just as kind, caring and considerate and thorough in their job. You don't wait for hours to see him. I think the most i ever waited was maybe 15 minutes. The facilities are pristine and caring and friendly. You would not even believe you were at a doctor's office. The offer psychological services and try to help in every which way they can. They offer the most up-to-date procedures such as a radical trachelectomy which saves the uterus for child-bearing if you are in the early stages of cervical cancer. Although my cancer was too far up and had to have a radical hysterctomy, Dr. Barakat brought in his partner to explain why I was not a good candidate for the radical trachelectomy and he gave me all of my options and explained the tumor and it's size. He was very thorough and wonderful.
