I went to Dr. Jeanne Pflum for a hysterectomy/oophrectomy because of very large debilitating fibroids.Dr. Pflum examined me very carefully and explained what she was doing and looking for as she went along. She was very efficient and adept thus it was one of the easiest pelvic exams I'd ever experienced. She discussed all of my options with me, the pros and cons of each and answered all of my questions. She is still involved in teaching which keeps her up to date on the latest procedures and info and can articulate it well. She is also very good at remaining neutral and not pushing her personal opinions at one. She is an excellent and confident surgeon and I felt safe and sure that she would do her best work with me. The surgery went well except there was a question concerning my appendix-whether to remove it or not and subsequent CT scans to be done. She fought for my best interests then and later when my insurance company tried to question whether they would cover my third day in the hospital.They did! She also has relevant and up-to-date info on hormone therapy-bio-identical or otherwise and is listed as a
physician affliated with The Women's International Pharmacy, a group of compounding pharmacies dedicated to women's particular needs. All of these elements and the fact that she's a warm, well-rounded person made my experiences with her very worthwhile.
