Dr. Drake is a gynecological oncologist. I saw him for the first time today for the eval of pelvic pain/ovarian cyst/ and heavy and irregular bleeding. I immediately felt comfortable with him. He is pretty young - I would guess about 35. He was very caring and compassionate. He feels that there is a strong possibility that I may have endometriosis. Of course he had to do a pelvic exam. Right now I am in a lot of pain. I asked him to tell me what he was going to do before he did it. He said definitely - he wasn't going to blind-side me. It hurt, but he really tried to be gentle. His plan is to give me a drig to put me into menopause. That will cause the endo to not bleed and to shrink. I am having 2nd thoughts due to some potential side effects. But I am going to call him and I feel that he will be receptive to what I have to say. If I have to have surgery, I will feel totally comfortable in his hands. He was very caring. When I left he put his arm around my shoulder and said that he really hopes that this treatment works so that I won't be in so much pain. I would definitely recommend him, especially if you are having problems that could potentially be cancerous. He is very comforting. He doesn't blow you off. Like I said he was very gentle during the exam. That definitely makes a difference when you are in pain. I definitely would recommend him to every one!
