My fiancee and I were both very nervous and scared about the entire operation procedure but I must say I have never met a doctor who cares so much about his patients which in turn made us both feel good that we were in great hands with Doctor Stanhope. My finacee was having a very difficult time just prior to operation and was nearly having an anxiety attack, doctor Stanhope held her hand and was able to get her mind off the operation and she has never had that kind of care from any doctor. I highly recommend doctor Stanhope and feel he may be one of the best surgeons / doctors out there professionally and personally.

In 2009, I was diagnosed with Stage 4, Ovarian Cancer in Ft Lauderdale, Florida. The experience with Broward Health and Dr Gates was a horrible nightmare and a joke compared to Mayo Clinic. THANK GOD I was unable to live on my own, forcing me to move back to Northfield. The very next day after arriving, I checked myself into Mayo Clinic where I was introduced to Dr. Stanhope, and his gallant team. Before the operation I asked him to pray with me and he did.

His first question to me was "Do you know you have a mass of cancer in your upper left chest? No, I replyed "Let's get in there and get it out!" I was very weak and exhausted after my first massive operation. Right away I knew it was a VERY, VERY, professional place. His staff enjoys working with him, and their team work is contagious! He not only is an informative doctor and great surgeon, who is a good listener, but he is so pleasant and caring. I wouldn't be alive today, GOD brought me to Dr. Stanhope, where he and his team saved my life!

They are a seasoned army, and that's what it takes when dealing with an enemy like Ovarian Cancer. I recommend you run, not walk, to the Mayo Clinic and their wonderful staff, they are the BEST!!! And Dr. Stanhope you are even BETTER!!! Joan F :)))

Dr Stanhope was my doctor of choice for treatment in 1981 when I was 31 years old for stage IIB Ovarian cancer, both ovaries. I underwent 11 months of Alpam (melphalan) and a second look surgery at the Mayo clinic, and have been cancer free ever since. Dr Stanhope has become a treasured friend, and I can't say enough good things about him. I knew the moment I met him that he could help me. He has a confident yet humble and kind manner that in and of itself helps in the healing process. Thank you Dr. Stanhope for these many years of health. Because of you I was able to see my only daughter graduate, and later get married and I thoroughly enjoy my two grandsons.

I am from Canada, I flew to the Mayo Clinic unsure of what would happen once I got there. I had an Ovarian Mass that needed to be removed, and Dr's were unsure if it was benign or malignant. In Canada I would have to wait 4 weeks for this surgery. I had a meeting with Dr. Stanhope and he told me he could help me, he scheduled my hysterectomy for the very next morning. He was such a caring person I felt comfortable with him right away. On the morning of my surgery in pre op at least 10 people must have told me how lucky I was to have Dr. Stanhope, that he was an excellent surgeon and such a wonderful person. I couldn't agree more.

I will never forget Dr. Stanhope! He saved my life and made it possible for me to be able to see my children grow up. I really do not believe I would be here today without such a gifted doctor. I was diagnosed with stage 4, level 4, cancer. He not only performed my surgery but was persistant that chemo be started immediately.
As a person, he is very honest, caring, and friendly. He really is a wonderful person and doctor!

I recommend this doctor because I think he did a great job with my vaginal hysterectomy and pelvic repair in August 2006. He is a Gynecology Surgeon. He has done many of these surgeries, and could tell me exactly what to expect after the surgery. He called it perfectly! He also has a good sense of humor, and is very personable. I was extremely pleased with my surgery and recovery.

I had a previous surgery at Mayo, therefore it was highly recommended to have a hysterectomy at Mayo. Dr. Stanhope and his nurse were supportive and comforting. Just before surgery he made sure I had no further questions and that I was very comfortable with the procedure. He answered all my questions. At my post-op visit he was very caring and personal.

Dr. Stanhope is a Gyn/Onc with the Mayo Clinic who performed my hysterectomy for possible ovarian cancer. It turned out to be ovarian cancer so my surgery involved the debulking required for cancer. Dr. Stanhope was thorough and available to answer questions. He was excited to tell me that the Grade was a 1 instead of a 2 as the frozen section indicated. I would recommend Dr. Stanhope to anyone facing a hysterectomy for a gynecologic cancer.
