After having had a bad situation last June with another gynecologist who performed an ablation and d&c, I still was having problems with major bleeding. A further sonogram showed that my fibroids were continuing to grow and I decided that at that point I needed to find a new gynecologist. Needing some guidance, I spoke with a few friends as well as my husband, a physicians assistant, and decided to meet Dr Schmitt. I should also state that when I had my ablation, I had major bleeding a week later and my gynecologist was unavailable. Dr Schmitt's partner, Dr Scarborough, saw me right away after a phone call from Dr Schmitt telling her that I was in trouble. So I felt confident in going to their group. My consult with Dr Schmitt left me feeling peaceful with my decision to have her become my gynecologist. She was knowledgeable, informative and answered questions without pause. My pre-op appointment was one that I carried a ton of questions into and before I could ask any of them, she told me to let her give her pre-op spiel and then I could ask anything she did not touch on. Out of a page of questions, she answered almost everything that I had written down. The day of surgery, she stopped in to say hello in my room and then was there before I was put under. Her post-op care was fantastic and the suturing was great. She takes great pride in her work as well as having a compassionate heart towards her patients. Her office staff has the same compassion and caring. I would highly recommend her to any woman on the East End of Long Island who is looking for a gynecologist.
