I met Dr. Gewirtz when I was admitted to the hospital for my first set of blood transfusions due to severe anemia. I had not been seen by an OB/GYN for many years before that. I was impressed with how thorough he was, and that he actually listened to everything I said. That seems to be very rare these days as doctors are so busy now.
He explained in detail what was happening to me, ran all the proper tests, and discussed all of my options before allowing me to decide on my course of action. We agreed on a Total Abdominal Hysterectomy with the removal of the ovaries, since I am prone to heavy bleeding, fibroids, and ovarian cysts.
I am now 13 days post-op, and am recovering nicely. Dr. Gewirtz continues to take the time during visits to listen to my concerns, my questions, and help to guide me to the best possible decisions. I think he's wonderful, and would definitely recommend him to any other woman contemplating a hysterectomy or just a routine exam.
