I recommend Dr. Alfred Guirgus because he's experienced and knowledgeable in cancer of the reproductive organs and in the usage of the DaVinci assisted robotic machine at Rush Medical University. He also instructs other physicians on how to use the DaVinci method. He's a well known specialist and one of the top 3 leading doctors for women's gynecologic health in the department of Oncology at Rush Medical University. I suffered with severe endometriosis and andomysis in my ovaries, fallopian tubes and uterus for over 10 years. I was never diagnosed properly until I was referred to Dr. Guirgus. I was scheduled immediately to see Dr. Guirgus due to my two consecutive CA-125 test results for elevated ovarian cancer markers. In my consultation with Dr. Guirgus I showed him laprascopic photos that were taken of my reproductive organs and he immediately gave me two solutions, first being the least invasive route which was Lupron and secondly the more invasive route which was to have a hysterectomy. I chose to do the hysterectomy due to my poor quality of life being in pain for so many years and the possibility of having ovarian cancer. Dr. Guirgus was very supportive, comforting, and gave me the facts (the pros and cons) about the surgery which I needed. He expressed that he was looking out for my best interests and confirmed my decision. I decided to proceed with the DaVinci assisted hysterectomy. I was in surgery for 3 hours and in recovery for 4 hours. Dr. Guirgus was very precise in using the DaVinci method for my hysterectomy. I only had 5 tiny incisions in my abdomen which helped a great deal in my recovery time. I was in the hospital for 2 days and received very good care by the staff at Rush Medical University. I was under pain management with medication during my two day stay. Dr. Guirgus came to visit me briefly the second day. My only disappointment was the fact that Dr. Guirgus should have taken more time with me during his follow-up visit after the surgery when I was in the hospital. I felt like he rushed through to see me. I was released once I was able to have full use of my bladder and could walk. I was scheduled to have my two week follow up visit with Dr. Guirgus at his office. At this appointment I received the full report of the surgical procedure. He also checked my incisions to make sure that they were healing properly. During my post-op appointment with Dr. Guirgus, he was very personable in allowing a good amount of time to address any questions, comments and concerns.
