I was referred to Johnny Hyde, Jr. MD, a gynecologic oncologist, after a series of postmenopausal abnormal Pap tests due to cervical dysplasia. For a few years this was a low grade dysplasia, but this past summer it became high grade. Dr. Hyde clearly explained why he was recommending total hysterectomy; he explained the surgical procedure thoroughly. When I phoned his office a few days before my surgery with questions, I got to speak with him! At all times before and after surgery, in the hospital for my overnight stay, and during my follow up visit last week, Dr. Hyde was compassionate, patient, and encouraging in all interactions. He is not only a competent surgeon, he is a genuine, caring human being!
