For many years I neglected my health due to the fact I was very mistrustful of doctors and basically just did not like them. Long story short, I ended up in Dr. Whalens office about two years ago and she has since changed my views! She was the first doctor I had ever met that really listened to me, treated me with respect, and made me feel totally at ease and comfortable. She performed my hysterectomy and did an amazing job. Before the surgery, she listenend to all my concerns and made sure they were answered and my wishes for aftercare were followed thru. She never acts rushed or hurried, even though she has a busy practice. Her staff, nurses, and nurse practitioners are warm caring people also. I was also having some issues with my primary care doctor at the time, and she referred me to someone else who she thought would suit me better. And she was right. So now I have a great primary care doctor and a great gynocologist.

My only regret in moving from Iowa was leaving Dr. Whalen. She is the best gynecologist I have and likely will ever have. She was concerned, informed, skilled and dedicated and interactive. She treated me with more care and concern than any of my other doctors, including my oncologists. I never left her office without feeling that she had covered all bases and answered all my questions, even if I came in with a page full.

Every doctor I have from here on out will have to meet the benchmark she set. I feel sure none will ever beat it. I would be thrilled to find another doctor who can just meet it.

She performed my hysterectomy 5 years ago. Had endometriosis--the pain had become debilitating. She's the only doctor out of several who truly listened. I've never felt better!
