When I was diagnosed in 2003 with invasive cervical cancer, my gynecologist told me iI had "very bad cancer" and I truly thought I was going to die at 46 years old. Fortunately, she referred me to Duke, where I met the man who saved my life: Dr. John Soper. He was brilliant, kind, professional, had a wonderful "bedside manner" and a great smile. Radical hysterectomy, (cancer in 4 lypmph nodes), chemo, radiation; Dr. Soper was there through it all...supportive, comforting, thorough, honest and most of all ENCOURAGING. He always told me what I needed to know and answered my questions without hesitation. He is no longer at Duke, so I will be seeing him in July 2007 at UNC Womens' Clinic. Dr. Soper is such an intelligent, phenomenal and caring doctor that for the first time in my entire life I don't dread visiting a doctor for a pap smear. I look forward to seeing Dr. Soper. He saved my life. I've met other women who believe they would have not survived cancer without him. I feel confident in saying Dr. Soper is the best gynecological oncology surgeon in the country. I strongly recommend Dr Soper to any woman with gynecological cancer of any type. He is absolutely brilliant and an incredible doctor!!
