I was new to Florida and needed an OB/GYN because of problems with fibroid. Dr. Peter Dayton was recommended by a friend. I am generally more comfortable with a female doctor but Dr. Dayton was so highly recommended that I decided to give him a try. I'm so glad I did. He is very warm and friendly and down-to-earth but straightforward with diagnosis and treatment recomendations. He has been doing hysterectomies for something like 30 years but appears very interested in keeping up with the latest technology and treatment options. He discussed options for dealing with fibroid and patiently answered all my questions. We agreed on an abdominal hysterectomy. His office staff arranged everything with the hospital and my insurance company with no problems. Surgery went without a hitch. It's been 8 months since my surgery. I've had no complications. My scar healed beautifully. I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Dayton to anyone near Stuart, Florida. (Actually I live about an hour away from Stuart but the drive was well worth it for the excellent care I recieved.)
The only negatives were:
1. Dr. Dayton's works in an office called "Physicians to Women". This is a very busy office with a number of doctors and a large staff. The offices are very nice and for the most part the staff is very friendly and helpful but there were a couple of employees who were less than friendly. Not a big deal but if you encounter them don't let them put you off the rest of the office.
2. Dr. Dayton had a family matter arise at the last minute that required him to leave town right after my surgery. This meant he had to have another doctor responsible for me after surgery. This was clearly an atypical situation for which Dr. Dayton was very apologetic. I was dissappointed with the doctor he had check in on me but this is not really an issue within Dr. Dayton's control.
