Everything went even better than expected. No pain - no complication. I can barely see my scar. Dr. Mackoul was very understanding and accommodating. Staff and Dr. Mackoul are professional and responsible, I felt secure and well cared for. My overall experience from start and finish was excellent.

At a time of uncertainty regarding your health, you want to be treated by a doctor who is knowledgeable, direct and personable. Dr. MacKoul met all those expectations. His staff was efficient + courteous too. Although I was a brand new patient, I was seen quickly and surgery was scheduled right away. A real blessing and peace of mind.

Dr. MacKoul is an incredibly knowledgeable & skilled gyn surgeon, he relieved my pain quick and easy. I’ve been to so many doctors who recommended open or robotic surgery for my condition and I just couldn’t go through with it. When I went to see Dr. MacKoul, he explained a new, minimally invasive approach that he developed - laparoscopic surgery using only two small incisions. He explained how this type of approach decreases post-op pain and shortens recovery time. I must say my recovery has been fantastic! I feel great, healthy and pain free after having minimally invasive surgery that barely left any scars. I am so glad I found Dr. MacKoul and would recommend him 110% to anyone looking to alleviate pain and problems caused by gynecologic conditions. Before having any kind of GYN surgery, go see Dr. MacKoul first!

Dr. MacKoul is an excellent gynecological surgeon with a specialty in oncology here in Maryland. He is very soft spoken and kind which relieves the stress of what you are about to go through. He is very thorough to explain your condition and the innovative laparoscopic procedure that he has helped pioneer. His practice has a wonderful website with very helpful information both general and specific to your condition.
This relatively newer technique was developed to minimize discomfort post op and maximize the surgical procedure to avoid common complications associated with other laparoscopic techniques. My experience was fantastic...back home in my own bed same day as surgery...pain well managed with Ibuprofen only...never had to fill the narcotic prescription they gave me...hard core recovery was two weeks...was back to work week three with some limitations. Now I am at 6 weeks recovery and I feel better than I ever have...110%!
Dr. MacKoul's staff is also very professional but wonderfully compassionate...all in all a very positive experience for a very stressful time of my life...

I was suffering from severe pelvic pain for YEARS after the cesarean deliveries of my 4 children. No one had an answer (or they were masked by the wrong ones. No doctors would touch me because I was " law suit waiting to happen" as one Dr. put it. When I went to see Dr. MacKoul at the Woman's Surgery Center, not only did I get an appointment quickly but my problem was given a name, he was not afraid to address it even though I am young he still took me on as a patient when no one else would. Having confidence in yourself as a physician is so important and he was very sure of his capabilities without coming off as arrogant. I am so satisfied with my surgical results (Retroperitoneal Approach - Hysterectomy). I am not in daily pain as I was and I spread his name to every one I can! This is not a half-done job like my last, It was thorough and complete and I am happy to say I will NOT be back (in a good way) of course!

Dr. MacKoul was very helpful during my preoperative visit for surgery. He was thorough, very professional, and put me at great ease. I had been told by other doctors that I could not have my surgery laparoscopically, and Dr. MacKoul reassured me that it was very possible. I had the surgery with only 2 little incisions, and left the hospital in 2 hours. I feel great and had almost no pain. I had a myomectomy and was back to work in 7 days. It was fantastastic! I am so glad I found Dr. MacKoul because I could not take time off from work. Every other doctor I saw told me it would be at least 6 weeks. Thank you so much Dr. MacKoul and the Women's Surgery Center!

I went to Dr. Mackoul for a 2nd opinion and was glad I did. I had my LAVH on 8/9/10 and I am less than 24 hours post-op and almost pain free. I'm so glad I found his practice. If you live in the Washington DC area I would highly recommend that you visit Dr. Mackoul before you let any other doctor operate. Top notch!

I was very pleased with Dr. Mackoul, my hysterecomy went well, it was performed on a Friday and I really could have attended work that Monday. I only wished that I had not put the procedure off so long, if I knew it was going to be such a good experience, I would have had it years ago. I highly recommended Dr. Mackoul.

Dr. Mackoul is the best gyn surgeon in the area. He is on the cutting edge of laparoscopic hysterectomies. I had an incredibly easy total hysterectomy and short, virtually painless recovery. He is proficient in the research regarding HRT as well. I skipped menopause!

Dr. MacKoul is an excellent doctor, After getting a second opinion for removal (laproscopically) of an ovarian cyst I knew Dr. MacKoul was the surgeon to have, I immediately felt that he and his staff were there to help as many women as possible. They provided excellent professionalism and service.

Dr. Paul MacKoul and the Women's Surgery Center http://womenssurgerycenter.com/ are excellent when it comes to laparoscopic surgery and care for a hysterectomy. Dr. MacKoul sees patients in Bethesda, Annapolis and Reston. He and his team performed my hysterectomy at Holy Cross Hospital.

If you are contemplating any type of hysterectomy, go see him first; or for a second or third opinion. A laparoscopic hysterectomy is the way to go.
