I saw 3 other doctors before I found Dr. Watts. I was actually referred to him by this same website. I decided to check him out because I felt I wasn't getting the care or my concerns taking care of from the other doctors and since Hystersisters-ladies were recommending him I thought that I had a good shot at someone finally listening to me and not treating me like I am just another patient.

All I can say is that he is awesome. I like him because he doesn't come across as an arrogant medical professional but someone down to earth who really knows his stuff. He is very personal, professional and knowledgeable. He takes time to listen. He doesn't rush you. You are made to feel like you are his only patient and responsibility. He also knows when to take the slow route and when to be aggressive in medical treatment. He explains things to you, why and what procedures needs to happen and still listens and takes my rational as well as irrational concerns into consideration. He has a way of reassuring you that his decision is the best way and then explains in detail.

He was the one who finally made me feel confident that having a hysterectomy was the best decision and boy was he right because there was early cancer. He also calls you up on the phone and talks to you as needed and his staff is just as personal and professional. You won't be disappointed.

While I do not have an extensive history with Dr. Watts, I can attest to all that these ladies have said. I was referred to him by my GYN for pain during intercourse and pain/discharge of the nipple. Dr. Watts immediately cured the infection that was in my breast with a simply medication after my prior GYN put me through two mamograms and painful tests. I also started working with him on difficulty becoming pregnant. He is assertive with treatment and investigative medicine so that he can find problem areas and treat them without delay. As for bedside manner, Dr. Watts gives eye contact, listens with sincerity, makes the patient feel important and that you are his only focus while he is with you. He spends time listening and gives creedance to everything the patient says; never discounts the patient's thoughts or ideas. He is concerned about his patients, and I hope I will be able to follow through with him during pregnancy and delivery.

After visiting my regular OB/Gyn several times for pelvic pain and being dismissed with, "I can't find anything wrong," I made some phone calls and found Dr. Watts who specialized in pelvic pain. Before my appointment he mailed me an information packet on pelvic pain and possible causes. At my first appointment he was very sympathetic and showed genuine concern for my problem. He recommended some exercises to try first to see if they would help and also discussed some further testing that could be done if the exercises didn't help.
After trying the exercises without improvement I called and he arranged for additional testing to be done. He never acted like he was in a hurry. He always had time to listen to all of my concerns and answer all of my questions. I eventually decided to have a hysterectomy.
When I had my first appointment with him he was working at the U of U hospital. He moved to private practice right before I scheduled my hysterectomy, so my surgery was scheduled at St. Mark's hospital. After discussing all of the options, I decided to have a hysterectomy that was done totally laparoscopically so that I could leave my cervix intact. St Marks hospital had not had that surgery performed there before (or very rarely anyway) and so when I checked in that morning, the nurses had the wrong procedure written on my admit papers. This was upsetting to me and even though they changed it on the papers, I was still worried. While I was waiting in the hallway in the surgical area for my operating room to be prepped (they had it set up wrong initially) Dr. Watts came and found me and held my hand and reassured me that he knew they had written it down wrong but he had gotten everything straightened out.
The surgery went very well and during my stay at the hospital I had several nurses ask me about my doctor. They were very impressed with his concern for his patient (me) and his respectful treatment of the nurses. They were also impressed with the surgery he performed. They kept coming in to check on my bleeding on my pad and couldn't figure out why there wasn't any. They had never heard of the type of surgery he performed.
I would highly recommend Dr. Watts. Not only is he a very knowledgable and skilled doctor, but he is also a very caring and compassionate person.

I first saw Dr. Watts after four years of unexplained abdominal/pelvic area pain. I had seen 4 gynecologists in 3 states, two hospital visits for excruciating pain, an exploratory laparoscopy and 3 years of "just making it through the day" by Lortab. Every time I went to a doctor/hospital they couldn't determine what my problem was and sent me home with pain pills. They made me feel that it was all in my head. I hate taking pain pills - you hear all about addiction all the time so I would only take the pills if I was flat down unable to walk or function. Several times I would be going along and the pain would be so sharp that it literally brought me to my knees. I hated to go to the hospital or doctor because there was never a reason for the pain and I had been told that there was no other test or course of action... I had done it all and there was still no explaination for the pain.

When I saw Dr. Watts, he took the time to listen to all of my issues, what tests I'd had and how I hated to have any more tests because I didn't want anyone else scratch their head and say "I don't know". He was not rushed to get out of the room to the next patient. Dr. Watts wanted to perform one other diagnostic test - a veinogram. This entailed a sort of iv into the uterine wall, and injecting dye. Then the radiologist would look at the veins in the pelvic area. It really was a magical moment when Dr. Watts came back from consulting w/the radiologist and told me that my problem was called "Pelvic Congestion". I was NOT crazy! There was a reason for my pain! He also explained the reasons why my previous doctors did not discover this in previous surgery.

Dr. Watts did not make me come back to his office for another office visit to get the results of that test like 99% of doctors do. He took an extra 45 minutes with me right there at the hospital radiology department and discussed the 3 options I had. I was given time to think about what I wanted to do. Of course I chose to try to avoid surgery. Dr. Watts supported my decision and 9 months later when things were not better, he again outlined my options very clearly. He did not tell me "You have to do this"... he gave me all the information on all options and told me I needed to be the one who came to a decision myself. I took another month to think, and Dr. Watts returned my calls in person when I had additional questions. When I decided to have a hysterectomy, Dr. Watts gave me several great websites to find more information. He also coordinated my care with a general surgeon to take my diseased gallbladder out on the same day/same operating room.

Dr. Watts is a very caring and intelligent doctor. His medical knowledge is wide and includes obscure medical problems. My story didn't end w/surgery. On the day of my surgery, after I went under anesthesia, Dr. Watts noticed that a mole I had down in an unmentionable area had changed. Because this was not in my consented surgical plan D...
