I have suffered with Ovarian Cysts since I was 16 years old. Since that time, my "female problems" have increased over the years. About three weeks prior to my wedding in 1995, I began suffering from an Ovarian Cyst. I went to my (previous) family doctor. He made me feel as though the problem didn't exist and it was in my head. However, he referred me to an ob/gyn in Chico, Ca. I went to see this doctor who also made me feel as though it was in my head. A week later, (2 weeks prior to my wedding), I ended up at Enloe hospital with severe pain. I was admitted into the hospital and they discovered "I did in fact have a cyst on my ovary." Luckily, the cyst burst and no surgery was required. Soon after, my sister in law referred me to a great doctor for my general female care thereafter, and he delivered my children, with no problems. When I had female problems, this doctor took me serious. However, when my health issues became more serious, this doctor was not as advanced as I needed. My co-worker/friend referred me to her doctor, Dr. Gregory Davis. She kept telling me how happy I would be if I would just meet the doctor and tell him about my health issues. My friend explained to me that she too had been having some female problems a few years ago, and that when she wasn't receiving the advanced care she needed from her previous ob/gyn, she began going to Dr. Davis, where she received excellent care. Specifically, the care she needed. I was extremely frustrated with my medical issues and the fact that the whole process was taking so long (2+years), and I was only feeling worse by the day. I met with Dr. Davis for the first time on March 13, 2008. Dr. Davis is very impressive. He spent a lot of time going over my history and health issues with me. After reviewing my long history of female issues, he immediately diagnosed my problems. I have endometriosis, polycystic ovarian syndrome, and interstital cystitis. He had conducted the ultrasound/sonogram right there in his office. I didn't have to make another appointment to get the ultrasound done, and then yet another to meet with him. It was all done in one visit. Dr. Davis completed a thorough examination and immediatly confirmed there is in a problem, three problems in fact. He "validated" my feelings and complaints of pain. I was able to personally observe my uterus, ovaries and other parts on the screen. He explained each health issue and options for that problem in great detail. He used simple terms that I could understand. Due to the extend of my health issues, I have a surgery scheduled for April 14, 2008, at which time, Dr. Davis will be performing a hysterectomy, including removal of my ovaries, and a procedure on my bladder. For the first time in my adult life, I believe there is real hope that I will be feeling better soon.
If your frustrated and believe there is no help out there, please know that there is help. I do not mean to criticize my previous doctor in any way. He is a fantas... [more..]
