I went to Dr. Shapter for a 2nd opinion relating to a gyn problem I was having. When he was unable to pinpoint or describe the problem with any certainty, my previous doctor's last comment to me was, "You're in a tough spot. I don't envy you."
Dr. Shapter's secretary was wonderful over the phone. She fit me into the schedule very quickly. And then Dr. Shapter. She was SO nice. So easy to talk to. She listened to me, let me ask questions, answered ALL of them as many times and as many ways as I needed until we were both satisfied that I understood. She looked at my previous records, ordered new tests, reviewed the results personally and asked her own "preferred" radiologists for their expert interpretation as well. She CALLED me at HOME with my results, to find out if I had any more questions, and to discuss what our next steps should be.
To me, Dr. Shapter was a "partner" in treatment. She was interested in me and protective of me. She went out of her way to make sure I was comfortable and well taken care of.
I cannot recommend this physician more highly. My only wish is that she could be my primary care physician as well as one of my specialists. :)
If ALL physicians were like Dr. Shapter, the world would be a much happier, healthier place.
