I searched for over 20 years for Dr. Harrington, who is an OB/GYN. Not only did she diagnose my medical condition of Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) - which I've had all my life and no other doctor I ever saw could or would take the time to diagnose - she suggested I be checked for it the very first time she saw me. This occurred when I went in for my annual Pap exam after recently moving to Maryland - I had been referred to her by a co-worker who happened to live in my area as I knew no one and didn't have a doctor. Dr. Harrington obviously recognized the symptoms of PCOS right away. Iwas tested for it and diagnosed within a month. One of the best things about her is she takes time with you. She answers your questions. She listens to you. Any concerns you have she will talk with you about them and give her best medical advice. She performed my very recent hysterectomy (less than 5 weeks ago) using laparoscopy and I was back to work (working from home) 4 days after surgery! She had to do a LOT of work in there because I had numerous adhesions from a previous abdominal surgery she had to clean out before she could even get to the uterus and ovaries. And she did this all through a scope - she didn't cut me open - which meant a lot to me as I begged her to do all she could to NOT have to cut me. She promised me she would do all within her power - and she kept that promise. I was back to work at my office less than 2 weeks out of surgery. When we were discussing my surgery she asked for my input - then she did as I asked. She has a terrific bedside manner and helps you feel at ease - even right before they take you to surgery you feel relaxed and you know you are in experienced hands. You can trust her to do what she says she will do to her utmost ability. She is the most highly skilled, most competent, most wonderful doctor I've ever had and I highly recommend her to any woman - and especially women who experience "female" symptoms that the others just can't seem to diagnose. I can think of little she can do to improve herself - just keep learning the cutting edge techniques that she is so skilled with and continue to improve her skills. The one thing I can think of is better, more specific post operative instructions could be given to a patient after surgery. That said, you can call her office or answering service at any time and get a response to any question you have immediately or almost immediately. I just love Dr. Harrington and I will continue to be her patient until she retires or until I pass on.
