Hi all,
I was only treated personally by Dr. Perry one time before his passing. It was at almost 7:00 p.m. and although I was very tired, Dr. Perry was full of energy and encouragement. I am a patient of Dr. Childs and he is an angel who has prayed with me at each visit. If it were not for Dr. Perry, however, Dr. Childs would not have the skill nor the wonderful place to practice. I remember the first time I visited and saw the beautiful pictures of Jesus in the waiting room. That was such a surprise as it is rare for physicians to be so open about their faith. It was just what my broken spirit and broken body needed. I absolutely recommend Dr. Childs and I am honored to have met Dr. Perry just a few months before his death. His life is an inspiration and I pray many doctors follow in his footsteps of relying on the Master Physician to do His work! Thanks to Dr. Perry's family for sharing him with the world. I look forward to seeing hiim again in heaven!

OMG, I know I am late, but I am so sad to hear of the passing of Dr. Childs! I have read the many stories and I too have a similar story. As a child growing up, I was often limited when playing outside with my brothers. I would run in the house to my mom and complain about severe pain in my stomach. I would explain that it felt like a knot was in my side. For a while, my mom would suggest I take a break and return outside. Well, after this went on for a while, my mom became concerned and took me to the doctor. They found nothing. That issue continued up to my high school years. I played Volleyball and would have to call time out to sit on the bench due to this pain. Well, in 2004, my last year in college, I could not take it any more; my mom and I went to Brookwood to get to the bottom of this issue. Three doctors, three cat scans, and about four hours later, they sent in Dr. Perry. It only took him 10 mins to give the correct diagnosis....HERNIA! I was thanking God that someone knew what was going on, finally. After the surgery, Dr.Childs informed me that I had FOUR hernias! I was so shocked. He said I was probably born with them. I will truly miss Dr. Childs and I pray his family will continue gaining strength and keep his legend alive. R.I.P.

I am so saddened to hear about Dr Perry. He is the only reason why I have a beauitful baby today. Back in 2003/2004, I was diagnosed w/ stage 4 endometriosis, my doctor said it was beyond his skill set to fix, so he reffered me to Dr Perry. DR Perry and Dr Child did surgery on me for 5 hours, DR Perry said my uterus was fused together w/ scar tissue, I lost an ovary cause of the scar tissue, and my bowels and other organs were affected by scar tissue. Dr Perry fixed me, he told me I would never have had a chance to carry a baby (pre surgery), but now I have a good shot. Well, after I healed, I got pregnant w/ a beauitful girl, we sent Dr Perry & Child a picture; we really owe them everything. Dr Perry was one of a kind, this is such a huge loss.

I am currently a patient of Dr. Childs ; I was deeply saddened when I found out about Dr. Perry. I have been treated by Dr. Childs and Dr. Perry for Interstitial Cystitis, Chronic Inguinal Neuropathy, and they both performed a surgical procedure on me back in November 07 for 3 hernias, endometrios, and IC. I am so very grateful for Dr. Childs; but also that I was blessed with getting to know Dr. Perry. He prayed with me at my bedside. I have been to several doctors over the years for continued chronic pain- They both helped me so very much. I am eternally grateful for both of them and all of there staff. I still deal with pain- but thanks to them both - it is decreased to a level that is tolerable.
sincerely
Jennifer L.

I am Dr. Perry's daughter and wanted to inform everyone that my father passed away from terminal cancer May 3rd, 2008. Thank you all for posting these wonderful messages. He was a wonderful man and gifted doctor that will be truly missed. He loved helping his patients and prayed for you all daily by name during his early morning bible studies. I know he is in heaven and that is a comfort but I miss him terribly. Dr. Childs, his partner, is still practicing at the Pelvic Pain clinic at Brookwood Hospital in Birmingham and has carried on the torch from my Dad. Dr. Childs is a WONDERFUL doctor whom my Dad adored and had great faith in. My Dad trained Dr. Childs and would brag on his skill level and kind spirit. I would highly recommend Dr. Childs for any pelvic pain patient.

I had been to multiple doctors in my hometown of Montgomery, AL for pelvic pain, and I endured many abdominal surgeries in hope of finding relief. When I met Dr. Perry in December of 2006, this all changed. On the first visit, he diagnosed me with interstitial cystitis, an 8 cm cyst on my left ovary, and a right inguinal hernia. I had surgery a month later and my quality of life has greatly improved. Dr. Perry prayed with me before surgery and came to see me twice while I was under his care in the hospital. Two weeks ago I got a call that Dr. Perry has terminal cancer. Dr. Perry you prayed for me. Now it is my turn to pray for you. Thank you for all that you have done for me. You are an inspiration to the many women that God has used you as an instrument to cure. Thank you!

Dr. Perry saved my life. I had been to multiple doctors in my hometown of Montgomery, AL. I had multiple surgeries and continued to hurt. When I went to Dr. Perry in December of 2006, he diagnosed me with interstitial cystitis, a right inguinal hernia, and an 8 cm left ovarian cyst. He operated on me and has changed my life. I now have a quality of life that I did not have before. When I received the call two weeks ago about Dr. Perry having terminal cancer, I cried to for two days. God has used him as an instrument to heal so many women that have suffered. Dr. Perry you are an amazing Christian man and are in my thoughts and prayers.

I am 24 years old and I have been a patient of Dr. Perry's since 2005. He diagnosed all of my chronic problems and did a lap to remove endo, hernia repair and other procedures. I feel so blessed to have found him. No other doctor had diagnosed anything but the endo and had done surgery that turned out to be a waste. Dr. Perry is truly gifted (al gift from God) and passionate about women's chronic pain. I was also very upset when I got the call yesterday informing me of his cancer. I will continue to pray for both he and his family. He has helped so may people worldwide by his reasearch and dedication to education about these chronic female issues. I will miss seeing him so much.....

I am truly blessed that I found Dr. Perry! I have been a patient of his since 1998. My Chronic Pelvic Pain issues are completely under control and after several issues were resolved, I had 2 beautiful children. It broke my heart this morning when I got a call informing me that Dr. Perry is on permanent leave because he has been diagnosed with cancer. It is a sad irony that he has cured so many women from painful lives and enabled so many children to come into this world and now he has to battle for his own life. I still contend that Dr. Perry's clinic is the most knowledgeable clinic I've visited for pelvic pain issues and will continue to see them for anything that comes up for myself, but I am very saddened that Dr. Perry won't be my attending physician. May God be with you Dr. Perry!

I recommended this doctor to any woman who is experiencing female problems. For years, I had been given medications that never helped and only provided a "temporary fix". I went through most of my adult life in pain. After a while, the doctors started to blame the pain on me being depressed and for years I believed that it was in my head. The pain got worse as time passed and life as I knew it changed. The pain affected everything I did. IT CONTROLLED ME! A few years ago, a male coworker told me that his wife suffered like that for years until she went to see Dr. Perry. He advised me to make an appointment and I did. Dr. Perry and his staff took care of me. I am now pain free. GOD BLESS YOU DR. PERRY!

I would highly recommend this doctor to anyone with any sort of pelvic, vaginal, cervical, and/or bladder problems. I am a nurse and educated in alot of these areas. I will never forget the first day I met Dr. Paul Perry. The first thing he said to me was "You are not crazy and you are not the only one out there with these symptoms". I had become depressed because I had visited 3 really well known doctors in my area and none of them had a diagnosis for me. Through the grace of God, I shared my problem with a co-worker and she told me her sister had the same problem and saw a Doctor in B'ham named Dr. Perry. I looked him up and called immediately. I knew he was wonderful because he was so thorough. He had an answer!!! He also had a plan of Action!!!! He also returned my life back to normal! I Thank him so much! I am so glad that Dr. Child's has joined him to help in a much needed area of gynocology! The staff is very friendly and they understand also! They are truly a remarkable and Christian-based Team!

I was referred to Dr. Paul Perry by my ob-gyn. He was concerned that I needed minor surgery for adhesions from 3 C-sections and an abdominal hysterectomy.

When Dr. Perry found that I had several things going on medically, I admit I was skeptical. I called several friends in the medical field to ask if I should get a second opinion. Their answers were all the same - One said, "well, you could; but I honestly don't know who that would be. Dr. Perry is considered the final opinion in the southeast". My ob-gyn, who referred me, told me Dr. Perry was "the guru of pelvic pain". A friend who worked for him at the start of her career told me, "he demanded excellence from me and made me a better technician; if I were in your place, I can honestly say I would not consider anyone else." Yet another friend said, "he wrote the book on pelvic pain" (I learned that he did literally write a book on pelvic pain - it was on a table in his office!).

His associate, Dr. Alex Childs shares Dr. Perry's professionalism, attentiveness, and comforting demeanor. His office personnel are the most friendly, helpful, and efficient I have encountered in any profession. They are prompt in their response to phone calls and follow-up on your progress with notes and calls of concern.

Dr. Perry, in my opinion, is first and foremost a Christian; secondly a genuine, caring, person; and thirdly, an excellent doctor. I appreciate that Dr. Perry does not separate who he is from what he does. Indeed, I believe that is why he is so highly regarded personally and professionally.

I would just like to say that if you are at your wits end - then this is definately the doctor to see. Before meeting Dr. Perry, Dr. Childs, and their wonderful staff, I had been to 4 different doctors and even hospitalized for 'unknown symptoms' that no one could ever figure out. I had even been told that sometimes women just hurt! I lived like this for over 2 years until Dr. Perry told me first of all that I wasn't 'crazy' and that I really did have some problems.(For the record - my problems included IBS, tipped uterus, Interstial Cystitis, and pelvic congestion syndrome.) I have been with Dr. Perry and Dr. Childs for almost 3 years and it is absolutely amazing at the difference in my quality of life. I had to have surgery due to a tumor on my appendix and a tipped uterus, but that was only the begining. Dr. Perry prayed with me before the surgery, checked on me twice before I left the hospital, he and his staff sent me a get-well card, and Dr. Perry called me the next day at home to make sure that I was doing alright. Since then I have steadily improved to an almost normal life. I am constantly getting better since I have started seeing these two wonderful doctors. I have access to them and their staff when I have questions. They have helped me with PT, medications, and trigger point injections. I would definately recommend these two to anyone who needs them.

After going to 5 different doctors and being told that it was my age or my mind was the rason for IC Dr Perry listened, examined and said he could help. He found out the reasons for the severe pain. Perscribed treatments and told me what to expect. Four years after treatment I can honestly say I have pain I can live with, that doesn't consume my life. He is truly cheerful, comforting, friendly, trustworthy, and experienced. He stays up to date on all treatments and He believes that faith in God has a place in medicine.
I'm not sure you could improve on him or his ability to LISTEN to what the patient says. He recently took a physician as a Fellow, in the study and treatment of IC. Dr. Childs will follow in Dr. Perry's footsteps, for he too has the same qualities and desires to help IC patients.
I recomend this Dr. to all those women who have been told nothing is wrong, that pain is in their imagination, who go to the bathroom 40 times a day and know where every restroom is in the whole town and on the highways.

Dr. Perry is a ob/gyn and he and Dr. Alex Childs gave me back my life and my sanity. I had suffered for 4 years with pelvic pain and had gone through 6 or 7 doctors who did nothing to help me. They each came up with different things that my problem could be however nothing they did helped me. I happened to come across Dr. Perry's web site and made an appointment and on my first visit diagnosed me with interstitial cystitus and lichen sclerosus. With the treatment he prescribed I have my life back. He is the best Dr. in the world. He really cares about his patients. He and Dr. Childs prays with you before surgery and that really made me feel good.

I've been a patient of Dr Perry's for a little over 2 years. My regular GYN thought I had an inguinal hernia from my c-section years back; however, it ended up being scar tissue adhering my large intestine to my colon...no wonder I felt like I was going to spring back everytime I stood up straight...the pain was horrible. He also had me on routine trigger point injections because I have a damaged inguinal nerve...which was from my c-section. Anyway, if you want to see Dr. Perry, get ready to complete a LOT of paperwork (he's very thorough) and plan on it being a couple of months to get in. He's worth the wait though.

I went on for 10 years with daily pelvic pain and worse pain during menstration. I was referred to Dr. Perry after my own OB/GYN threw her hands up and actually said I might be 'faking it.'

Dr. Perry immediately saw that I had a tipped uterus, endometriosis (plus scarring from a previous surgery), interstitial cystitis, and one of my ovaries was adhered to my abdomen wall. With ONE minimally invasive surgery (I can wear a teeny bikini), he was able to correct all of these things. I didn't even stay overnight at the hospital!

After that, he began treating the daily pelvic pain and didn't think I was crazy when I opted for surgery instead of continuing medicinal therapy and PT. I just wanted to feel normal again!

Since January 2003, Dr. Perry has been there for me and is always treating my reproductive issues like I am the only person in the world! He has since added Dr. Alex Childs to his staff and Dr. Childs is the greatest! If I can't see Dr. Perry, I see Dr. Childs and they are both in such unison, I know I am being taken care of the best.

My daily pain is GONE and periodic pain is so much better (with the tiniest flare-ups once in a while), that I am no longer dealing with depression or wondering if everything will ever be normal again.

I highly recommend Dr. Perry (and Dr. Childs).

Dr Perry's Pelvic Pain Center in Birmingham has been a constant shining light in my life since becoming his patient in May 2004. Dr Perry and his staff have always put me, the patient first, and have always made me feel comfortable and at ease with all treatment plans. Three cheers to Dr. C Paul Perry and his wonderful staff (and lest not forget Dr.Alex Childs for his awesomeness!
