I found Dr Dornbier three ways:
1. He was in my insurance company's provider directory with two stars (that's the best).
2. He was listed at a web site that promoted laproscopic hysterectomies.
3. I had a personal recommendation from a coworker's sister who had him do an ablation for her.
I saw Dr Dornbier a couple of years ago after horrible treatment by another ob/gyn (he had a hissy fit and threw a speculum across the room when I could not tolerate getting a uterine biopsy in his office).
Where the other doctor would not do my hysterectomy without getting a biopsy ahead of time (either in the office or at a surgery center under general anethesia during a hysteroscopy), Dr Dornbier said he would not put me through any of that; he'd just do the biopsy during surgery and look at it right then!
We had hoped to do the surgery laproscopically, but I ended up having a full abdominal hysterectomy. He did a great job of explaining everything to me ahead of time, and so I was prepared for just about anything. It turned out that I was quite a mess inside and Dr Dornbier actually saved my life by working quickly and accurately!
Dr Dorbier seems to have heard it all, which makes him very easy to talk to... although I am a modest middle-aged woman, I have never been embarrassed to discuss anything with him. With regard to my office visits, he makes you feel very at ease... gets the personal stuff over with quickly and as comfortably as possible.
He is very cheerful and has a good sense of humor too.
His assistant and the rest of the office staff is also very nice.
He is popular, so book early!
