I had a very complicated and painful condition called Spinal Stenosis (narrowing of the spinal canal) w/ pain going down through my hips and legs. I also had bilateral facet joint degenerative disc disease, and extremely obese. I recommend him, because he is a caring, thoughtful doctor. He LISTENS to you!! His surgery has been very helpful. I still have a lot of pain, but I have lost 92# after surgery, because I am now more active than I have been in years. I couldn't walk with out falling down before surgery, now I am doing the treadmill; Nu-Step; doing sit ups and walking 5 miles a day. I couldn't have walked across the street without taking a pain pill Jan 2005. Dr Birney KNOWS his science!!!
