DR Stafford treated me for pg, and then hysterectomy.
I was approx 20 week pg with a large (and growing) uterine fibroid. My was-OB suggest that I find another OB that would specialize in high-risk pg. There was not a local spec so I found Stafford's office (OBGYN Assoc) in my home town (approx 150 mi) from my home. I called her office (group of OBs) and submitted my case.. Dr Stafford accepted me as a patient and I had my first appt approx 1 week later. She is very PROMPT: I never waited more than 20 minutes in the waiting-room. Promptly met with her nurses and her right after I was put in the exam-room. From the beginning, she made me feel VERY CONFIDENT IN HER EXPERTISE.. she didn't seem nervous at all.. never second-guessed any decisions about my pg.. She is THOROUGH: she admitted me overnight into Spohn South and ran a gazillion tests after the 1st appt. SHE IS VERY FRIENDLY: really got to know me and my husband. HER STAFF IS AWESOME, TOO... I really feel like a part of the family... I had appts every 2-3 weeks during my pg and every 3 mo. after for Lupron shots (to reduce the size of the fibroid(s) for 1 year. After the hysterectomy... I cried while saying "goodbye" to her her and her staff b/c I wouldn't need to see them for 1 yr. She RESPONDS QUICKLY to all called-in concerns.. I would get a return call (after leaving a message) w/in 1 hr. She is POSITIVE: did inform me of all risks... but cheered me on and kept me positive throughout the pg and prior to the hysterectomy. She is very DILIGENT: kept up with situation and constantly looking for solutions/alternatives to a hysterectomy. She is HONEST: after trying all alternatives to reduce the fibroids size (1yr after ds was born).. she gave me the option to attempt fibroid removal or to decide to opt for the hysterectomy. Even though it was not what I was hoping for.. I realized that the hysterectomy would be the safest solution and the most realistic outcome from the surgery. I believe that she "allowed" me to make the decision so that I would be comfortable (not disapointed) with the outcome... (the fibroid was football sized upon removal). I truly do not think that I would have made it though till 37 week pg without her and her staff working with me & my husband... I believe that they are the reason my husband and I have a beautiful & healthy son.
