i am so Thankful for Dr. Turner. She is definately an EXCELLENT doctor and surgeon. I have for the last 6 to 7 years have had a vaginal itch horribly and have gone to several gyne's since my previous one that I use to see retired, Dr. Naanep. Upon seeing all of these gynes all they wanted to do was a hysterectomy for fibroids that I was diagnosed with. Dr. Naanep removed my fibroids before with out doing a hysterectomy and I know that it could be done again. They were causing several problems and I went to same doctor's that he was in with and they wanted to do hysterectomy as well. Went to my regular doctor and he wanted to do a full or a partial hysterectomy and I said that as long as there was no cancer there, No. My neighbor referred me over to Dr. Fahnlander another Great doctor and she did my fibroid surgery which turned out to be a mass of polyps and removed them and there was no cancer there. I complained to her the morning of surgery and told her about the itch and she did a biopsy and sent it in, called me with the results and then I was referred on to an Oncologist because of what the biopsy came back as. What a wonderful, wonderful, doctor she is and the staff is excellent too. I went to see her told her about my severe itching for years and they did what is called a non-surgical vulvectomy, (dabbing white vinegar on the outside of the vagina) I was truly amazed all the doctors (specialist) that I went to and not once did any of them do this test that tells them if you have vulvar cancer. Thank god - my was caught at a very early stage which turned out all to be pre-cancer, because it could have been a much different story. I am so Thankful for Dr. Fahnlander referring me over to Dr. Turner - Ladies if you want to best doctor around for your female issues I would highly, highly recommend that you go to Dr. Turner. . She takes her time with you. no one else goes back to the room other than yourself and then a consultation after words with anyone that you brought with you. This was one on one with the doctor which was really nice for a change you can focus on the doctor and she can focus on you and what you are there for. I am doing well after surgery - very little discomfort - took maybe one pain pill and iced like I was to do. She is such a warm, positive, comforting, experienced, friendly and very Trustworthy doctor.

Having a history of repeated thyroid cancer and fear going into my TAH BSO surgery, Dr Turner was absolutely lovely. She has extraordinary talent as a skillful surgeon and deservingly has the respect of her medical peers. I will be forever grateful for what she gave of herself as a physician but more so a remarkable, truly wonderful person.

Thank you Dr. Turner for coming to my rescue!!!!! I have multiple autoimmune diseases. In 1981, at the age of 30, I had to have a partial hysterectomy. Since then, I have had multiple surgeries, am on very strong pain meds, etc. I was referred to a doctor due to a mass at the top of my vagina (the doctor I was referred to was NOT Dr. Turner). The doctor I was referred to did a laprascopic procedure even after being informed of all of my scarring and adhesions. I should have known better - this was definitely NOT a good idea! After the surgery, my husband was told I would be spending the night in the hospital, an hour later he was told they were sending me home. When he asked what had changed, he was given no explanation since there had been a shift change! I was still not awake, but was put in our vehicle for a 40 mile ride home. The doctor NEVER assessed my pain before discharging me from the hospital!!! After 2 ER visits in my home town, I was sent by ambulance back to Des Moines. After unbelievable numbers of surgery, and this being my 21 hospitalization, I had never been in so much pain, nor lost control, nor been so hysterical - I have always prided myself in remaining in control no matter how much pain I am in. I was refusing to be transferred as I was not about to have anything to do with this original doctor. When my ER doctor told me that he would have Dr. Turner and her assistant Deb Schnoor if I would go, I then agreed. It is all kind of a blur, but I do know that Deborah Schnoor was waiting for me at the ambulance entrance and Dr. Turner explained how they were going to handle my pain. They worked very fast and got things under control in what I truly believe was a matter of minutes!!! I fired my original doctor and had Dr. Turner as my doctor. She is an absolute miracle and I can't thank her or Deb Schnoor enough! I was in the hospital for FIVE DAYS!!! After multiple tests, xrays, cat scan, ultrasound, the only thing we could figure out was that something (like one of my adhesions) tore during the procedure. And again I repeat - MY PAIN WAS NOT ASSESSED BY THE ORIGINAL DOCTOR BEFORE SENDING ME HOME!! I called the original doctors office an average of 5 times a day after the surgery - got to talk to him once! As the pain kept escalating after the surgery, I couldn't even talk and had to have my husband call. The other doctor DID NOT LISTEN AT ALL!!! Dr. Turner is the COMPLETE OPPOSITE - she listens and truly hears you!!!! During my stay in the hospital, I talked with several of her other patients and the nurses - EVERYONE LOVED HER, THOUGHT SHE WAS A TERRIFIC DOCTOR, AND I NEVER HEARD ONE NEGATIVE COMMENT. I totally agree with what everyone said. I am already telling every woman I know, that if they ever need an oncologist/gynecologist she is definitely the doctor to see. Also, she is not your typical surgeon - she is warm, friendly, an absolute miracle as far as I am concerned. I will NEVER BE ABLE TO THA... [more..]

My body reacted badly to an embolization proceeduue.
Dr Turner took over my care. I felt like a VIP. She nursed me back to health. She is an excellent Doctor. My blood count was dangerously low. I informed her on my stand to accept only bloodless treatments. She was up to date on the latetest medical treatments. She readily complied with my wishes. I highly reccomend her.

Having been diagnosed with uterine cancer, I was referred to Dr. Turner by my primary physician.
I cannot express enough praise for Dr. Turner, as a physician and a human being. Compassion and understanding are so important at a time when you are dealing with cancer.
I recommend her to everyone...she is simply the best.

In December 2005 I was diagnoised with stage four ovarian cancer at the young age of 35. Cancer can strike at any age and it's crucial to find an excellent doctor, I mean we're talking about life and death here. Dr. Turner is my oncologist and she is absolutely amazing, words cannot express my gratitude for all she has done for me. I've completed my chemo treatments and I'm doing fantastic. As of today there are no cancer findings. I highly recommend Dr. Turner, she is the most beautiful person that I have ever met and she is very much loved by my family and we will cherish her forever. I'm especially thankful that my children have a healthy mommy. Everyday is truly a miracle. God bless you!

I currently receive treatment from Dr. Turner due to ovarian cancer cells found during my hysterectomy in 2004. Her specialty is both Gynecology and Oncology - which makes her quite unique in the state of Iowa. She has an excellent bedside manner and is very supportive in her care by taking into consideration the treatments her patients want as well as what is recommended for their conditions. She is always very thorough with her examinations and willing to provide any information you may need about the results and how it involves your future treatment. I cannot suggest her highly enough. She currently works with Mercy Surgical Affiliates at the Mercy Hospital campus, but was willing to provide me services even though my surgery was at Lutheran Hospital.
