I spent nearly 15 years traversing the medical rigors of begging for a hysterectomy. Being sent from doctor to doctor or having my insurance dictate what course of intervention was best, was beyond maddening. When I finally turned 50, I marched into my primary care physician and told her, I couldn't take the pain, the lengthy periods, headaches and interuption in my life any longer. We discussed ablation and hysterectomy procedures and I told her I didn't care how far I had to travel, I wanted the BEST doctor. One who would listen to all my concerns, offer me as many viable alternatives as possible and allow me to make the best decision for my life. Her one and only recommendation was Bob Andre. When I met Dr. Andre, I was first struck by his complete knowledge of what I had already been going through. He explained everything in detail and listened when I spoke. We decided on a course of action and he told me that if, at any point, I was not comfortable, we would revisit other alternatives. I agreed to try medication for several months, prior to moving toward a surgical intervention, but w/in a month was having difficulty and contacted Dr. Andre immediately. When it was decided that a hysterectomy was the most viable means, he again explained everything he would do; he and his staff were completely professional and thorough and I was given every confidence in his ability. He explained the differences between the types of surgeries available and left the final decision to me and my family. When I arrived at the hospital, the staff had nothing but glowing respect for him, they spoke about his extensive experience, and their words made me feel even more certain I had chosen the very best doctor I could have for this procedure. Post-op, he was again, thorough, in explaining all the pathology, encouraging me if I had questions or concerns to not hestitate to call, and I received several follow-ups from his staff during my recuperation.
I highly recommend Dr. Andre for gynecological procedures, as it is his speciality and sole area of practice now.
