Rich CASTELLANO Facial Plastic Surgery Earns Ýts Place On ‘most Popular’ Holiday Gift List
[by Rich CASTELLANO MD]
Trends show Tampa Bay is investing in the ‘gift of youth’ for close friends and family this holiday season Tampa, FL (December 07, 2011) – Let’s face it. Giving and receiving holiday gifts can be a daunting task. From fighting mall crowds to finding the perfect gift to faking enthusiasm for that less than appealing new sweater, we don’t always get (or give) a gift that’s truly wanted or needed. The good news is that giving our loved ones a gift that makes them look and feel better has become an increasingly popular choice in the Tampa Bay area. It’s facial cosmetic surgery. HolidayPraye... Rich CASTELLANO Brotox A Phenomenon Popular Ýn Tampa Bay
[by Rich CASTELLANO MD]
More men refreshing their appearances with facial fillers than ever before Tampa, FL (January 23, 2011) – According to the Urban Dictionary, a “Bromance” describes the complicated love and affection shared by two straight males. Now, there’s a new term, “Brotox”– and it’s become increasingly popular throughout Tampa Bay. Brotox describes the phenomenon of “men’s men” refreshing their facial appearances with Botox and other popular facial fillers like Dysport, Radiesse, Sculptra, Xeomin, Perlane and and other nips and tucks – something this demographic might have historically shied away from... Rich CASTELLANO Proof Positive, Facial Lifting Procedures Work
[by Rich CASTELLANO MD]
Face lifts remove about 9 years from faces, new study reveals Tampa, FL (February 22, 2012) – A new study released Monday, February 20th, 2012, in the Archives of Facial Plastic Surgery found that face lifting procedures really do make men and women look younger – almost 9 years younger to be exact. When shown photos of 60 participants that have had face lifting procedures, medical student evaluators rated that on average, these patients looked 8.9 years younger than their chronological age, post-surgery. Tampa-based double board certified facial cosmetic surgeon Richard Castellano, M... [more..]
Liposuction Is A Treatment For Obesity
[by Thomas LOCKE MD]
In the context of consultation for a body contouring procedure I am frequently asked: “How many pounds will I lose?” Conventional wisdom suggests that this is a bad prognostic sign. Traditional teaching and custom holds that liposuction is NOT a treatment for obesity. Patients focused on pounds and not appearance are not supposed to be good candidates for cosmetic surgery. In some plastic surgery practices the surgeon will not do a procedure on a patient with a BMI greater than 30. Lipo suction has traditionally been viewed as a treatment for the skinny ladies. Traditionally the “ideal pa... [more..]
Weight Loss After Pregnancy
[by Michele CAVENEE MD]
Postpartum Weight Loss Many women are faced with the task of shedding excess weight after childbearing, and they often seek medical guidance for weight loss. Some were overweight prior to pregnancy, while others gained excessive weight while “eating for two.” Regardless of the specific nature of the weight gain, the weeks and months following delivery involve attempts at weight loss for most women. Questions often arise as to how to safely accomplish weight loss after pregnancy, and whether or not special considerations are indicated when a new mother is breast-feeding. It is widely ... Lois HENSON recommended by Maureen :

I have been Dr. Henson's patient for over 20 yrs. She has also treated my daughter since age 8, and my daughter (now 26) remains her patient as well. Dr, Henson is very proactive in finding out what is going on if I express concern about something that "isn't normal" for me, and she always takes the time during office visits to review my history. She asks questions about conditions I've experienced previously, and gives me enough time to ask her questions. She also considers the "whole person" and not just the symptoms, and recommends holistic as well as medical remedies. She prescribes medications cautiously and always starts out with the lowest possible dosage if she can. However, she is very aggressive about ordering tests or making referrals to specialists if she suspects anything. Whenever she has referred me to a specialist, I've always been equally as happy with the specialists she has referred me to.

Darren WATTS recommended by Pauline :

I first saw Dr. Watts after four years of unexplained abdominal/pelvic area pain. I had seen 4 gynecologists in 3 states, two hospital visits for excruciating pain, an exploratory laparoscopy and 3 years of "just making it through the day" by Lortab. Every time I went to a doctor/hospital they couldn't determine what my problem was and sent me home with pain pills. They made me feel that it was all in my head. I hate taking pain pills - you hear all about addiction all the time so I would only take the pills if I was flat down unable to walk or function. Several times I would be going along and the pain would be so sharp that it literally brought me to my knees. I hated to go to the hospital or doctor because there was never a reason for the pain and I had been told that there was no other test or course of action... I had done it all and there was still no explaination for the pain. When I saw Dr. Watts, he took the time to listen to all of my issues, what tests I'd had and... [More..]

Gene Francis STOHS recommended by A. Young :

Technically speaking, I was his patient several years ago. The good thing is that the care I recieved from him was nothing short of excellent. The bad news is that I have moved a couple of times since then, and all of my doctors have had the task of living up to my experience with him. I was diagnosed with endometrial cancer at age 31, and had a hysterectomy. The whole process was pretty traumatic, but I am incredibly thankful to have had him as my doctor. He is kind, skilled, knowledgeable, and has a sense of humor that is comforting. He is an excellent communicator, and although my visits were generally short, I never felt rushed, or like he didn't have time to listen to and address my concerns. My only issue with any part of my experience with Dr. Stohs was the decoration in his office. Honestly, if I have to talk about office decor to talk about something less than ideal, that's a good thing.

Randall B KAUMP recommended by Toni Wood :

I have been Dr. Kaump's patient for 19 years. During that time he has seen me through a lot of serious health issues as well as 2 miracle babies. When I first went to him I was desperate for answers and in a lot of pain. Although it took him and the other doctors he contacted 5 years, he did not stop until he found an answer and solved the problem; my diagnosis was rare. Never once did he ever turn his back on me or my family, no matter how much I whined and drove him crazy, and trust me I did. After he repaired the fistula was determined to have another child, out of determination I contacted an infertility specialist out of the area. Most doctors would not stay involved, but he did and when I became pregnant he opened his arms to caring for the baby and I; 9 months later I gave birth to a beautiful baby boy who has his name. He held my son like he was his own, all 3 of us (my husband, Dr. Kaump, and myself) had tears of joy. Then when I got pregnant with our 5th child, he again stood... [More..]

Eddie FEUILLE recommended by Cindi :

Dr. Feuille has been my doctor for 20 years. He handled two of my three pregnancies and then my hysterectomy. He is considered the best doctor to go to for anything high-risk, yet he is super patient and caring to average cases also! He is very tuned in to "quality of life" issues versus what the insurance people say "should" happen. It really helps that he can answer questions about insurance, because finance was a stressor for me. He also brings up pre and post-surgery sexual matters, and my husband appreciated knowing these things too. Eddie is a great listener, very calm and comforting. The other ob/gyns in his practice group are fine for substitutes if Eddie is out for a delivery, so I recommend this group highly. They are located right across the street from Wesley Hospital.

Roseann MAIKIS recommended by Dorinda Stephens :

Dr. Maikis is a wonderful, compassionate and caring doctor. She makes you feel comfortable talking with her. She also made my husband a part of everything that was going on and never made him feel left out. His decisions mattered to her. I had been having continuous problems and uncaring doctors. I got referred to Dr. Maikis and got the most care and understanding from her. At this time, I was living 2 hours from her, but it didn't matter because of the care I was getting. Recently, I began having pain. I hadn't seed her in 2 years, but she immediately returned my call and said she would see me the next day. The most important thing to me is that she remembered who I was even after 2 years. I live over 3 hours from Nashville, but will go to her again if need be. She is the only doctor my husband trusts with me. That's saying a lot, because he trusts no doctor. I highly recommend her!

Dr. Romeo diagnosed the labral tear in my hip on my very first visit to him. I had been searching for the answer to my pain for six years prior, and had undergone endless tests, physical therapy, medication regimens, to no avail. He did everything possible to save me from hip replacement, but ultimately it was neccessary in order to resolve all the problems that were revealed in further testing. While his bedside manner leaves a bit to be desired, his skill, confidence and ability to diagnose and ultimately resolve the problem is second to none. He is my hero!

Ramsey John FAKHURI recommended by Michelle Ronda :

Dr. Fakhuri has been my elderly grandmother's primary physician for the past 5 years. He is generous with his time and energy, patient beyond expectations and more empathetic than any doctor I've known. Dr. Fakhuri has made house calls to see my grandmother when her arthritis or the winter weather made it nearly impossible for me to get her out of the house and to his office. When she fell and broke her wrist in her home, he came that very night and had ordered a portable x-ray technician to see her by the next morning. My grandma has dementia and Dr. Fakhuri has worked very closely with me and her psychiatrist to find just the right medications. Sadly, last year my grandmother had to enter a nursing home, but Dr. Fakhuri is on the staff there and continues to see her regularly. He has never once failed to pick up his phone or return my call despite being popular and having many, many patients. When discussing my grandma's care he will often say "if it were my grandma" and he re... [More..]

Richard U LEVINE recommended by Michelle Ronda :

Dr. Levine performed a myomectomy on me in 2004. After an exhaustive search, I discovered him in a "Best Doctors" list and was not disappointed. Having already visited several OB/GYNs who were recommending hysterectomy to remove my very large fibroids, Dr. Levine's first suggestion was myomectomy. My surgery took many hours due to the size and type of fibroids I had, but I came through with flying colors thanks to his experience and skill. He has a bedside manner that inspires confidence and patiently answered my many anxious questions leading up to and post-surgery. Because he teaches at the hospital - and has for many years - his ability to explain even the most obscure concepts in understandable terms is noteworthy. He is well-known and sometimes there is a long wait to see him but it has always been worth it to me.

Blane Milton CRANDALL recommended by Renee Hardy :

Dr. Crandall is an OB/GYN in Naples, Florida. He was the first physician in the Naples area to offer Laparoscopic Assisted Vaginal Hysterectomy. His mind is brilliant and he is excellent clinically and is easy to talk to. He takes his time explaining things and is up on the latest research on hormone therpy. After my hysterectomy the day I was to go home from the hospital, I couldn't urinate after they discontinued the foley catheter. I was in agony and was waiting for the nurse to come and recath me. Dr. Crandall physically came to the hospital from his nearby office to put the foley back in! He is awesome. He told me after the hysterectomy I could even call him at home if I had any problems or questions. He also has a background in internal medicine and now his son has joined him in his practice who is a urogynecologist. His son is awesome as well.

Jacqueline Kaye BAYS recommended by Penny Jemola :

If you need a breast cancer Doctor, Dr. Bays is the one to go to. She is the most compassionate genuine Doctor I have ever met. Before surgery she talks to her patient making sure all questions are answered reasurring them and holding their hand. Once the patient is in the operating room she lays a warm blanket on the cold O.R. table to ensure her patients comfort before they move over onto the table. More warm blankets follow as she wraps her patients not only in the warm blankets but in a safe secure haven before they are put to sleep. She hols their hand and speeks softly to them as they drift off to sleep. The patient is treated with the utmost dignity and caring during the entire operative procedure. How do I know all of this? I am a perioperative nurse who has had the pleasure of working with Dr. Bays in the operating room at Saint Josephs Hospital. Caring for Dr. Bay's patients also gives me the opportunity to speak with her patients. "I love her, She is wonderful, What a caring... [More..]

Gregory Alan WOLGAMOTT recommended by Linda :

Dr. Wolgamott is an OB/GYN that my family practioner referred me to when I was having "female issues". I was having problems with uterine fibroids at the time and saw him off and on for a couple of years, trying less evasive treatment first before finally deciding to have a hysterectomy -- a difficult decision made easier by his very thorough explanation of all my options before deciding to proceed with the surgery. Dr. Wolgamott is very professional - yet friendly and attentive. He would always take the time to answer my numerous questions in detail -- even drawing out diagrams on his whiteboard. He makes you feel like you are the only patient he is seeing that day even though he probably has a waiting room full of patients! Dr. Wolgamott is a fine surgeon. My surgery went very well and I have never regretted my decision to have the hysterectomy -- not once!
