Rich CASTELLANO Facial Plastic Surgery Earns Ýts Place On ‘most Popular’ Holiday Gift List
[by Rich CASTELLANO MD]
Trends show Tampa Bay is investing in the ‘gift of youth’ for close friends and family this holiday season Tampa, FL (December 07, 2011) – Let’s face it. Giving and receiving holiday gifts can be a daunting task. From fighting mall crowds to finding the perfect gift to faking enthusiasm for that less than appealing new sweater, we don’t always get (or give) a gift that’s truly wanted or needed. The good news is that giving our loved ones a gift that makes them look and feel better has become an increasingly popular choice in the Tampa Bay area. It’s facial cosmetic surgery. HolidayPraye... Rich CASTELLANO Brotox A Phenomenon Popular Ýn Tampa Bay
[by Rich CASTELLANO MD]
More men refreshing their appearances with facial fillers than ever before Tampa, FL (January 23, 2011) – According to the Urban Dictionary, a “Bromance” describes the complicated love and affection shared by two straight males. Now, there’s a new term, “Brotox”– and it’s become increasingly popular throughout Tampa Bay. Brotox describes the phenomenon of “men’s men” refreshing their facial appearances with Botox and other popular facial fillers like Dysport, Radiesse, Sculptra, Xeomin, Perlane and and other nips and tucks – something this demographic might have historically shied away from... Rich CASTELLANO Proof Positive, Facial Lifting Procedures Work
[by Rich CASTELLANO MD]
Face lifts remove about 9 years from faces, new study reveals Tampa, FL (February 22, 2012) – A new study released Monday, February 20th, 2012, in the Archives of Facial Plastic Surgery found that face lifting procedures really do make men and women look younger – almost 9 years younger to be exact. When shown photos of 60 participants that have had face lifting procedures, medical student evaluators rated that on average, these patients looked 8.9 years younger than their chronological age, post-surgery. Tampa-based double board certified facial cosmetic surgeon Richard Castellano, M... [more..]
Liposuction Is A Treatment For Obesity
[by Thomas LOCKE MD]
In the context of consultation for a body contouring procedure I am frequently asked: “How many pounds will I lose?” Conventional wisdom suggests that this is a bad prognostic sign. Traditional teaching and custom holds that liposuction is NOT a treatment for obesity. Patients focused on pounds and not appearance are not supposed to be good candidates for cosmetic surgery. In some plastic surgery practices the surgeon will not do a procedure on a patient with a BMI greater than 30. Lipo suction has traditionally been viewed as a treatment for the skinny ladies. Traditionally the “ideal pa... [more..]
Weight Loss After Pregnancy
[by Michele CAVENEE MD]
Postpartum Weight Loss Many women are faced with the task of shedding excess weight after childbearing, and they often seek medical guidance for weight loss. Some were overweight prior to pregnancy, while others gained excessive weight while “eating for two.” Regardless of the specific nature of the weight gain, the weeks and months following delivery involve attempts at weight loss for most women. Questions often arise as to how to safely accomplish weight loss after pregnancy, and whether or not special considerations are indicated when a new mother is breast-feeding. It is widely ... J MCCUBBIN recommended by JMoore :

Dr. McCubbin is a sweet, sweet man who practices what I would call "old-time, small-town, personal medicine." He actually gives you his home and cell phone numbers in case you need to contact him after hours...AND HE ACTUALLY ANSWERS! He is surgically conservative and very encouraging. He is the only doctor I have seen in the seven years of suffering with endometriosis who told me, "It's not up to a doctor to say whether you will have children. It is up to God."

Alan JOHNS recommended by JMoore :

Dr. Johns is one of the best endo doctors in the US. He participated in many studies to help those who suffer with this condition. He doesn't just scrape adhesions out. Dr. Johns uses exision to remove the endo as well as a layer of healthy tissue to ensure the endo doesn't return in that area. He could improve his care with a better bed-side manner though. He tends to be in a hurry, and I was too intimidated to ask a lot of questions or express concerns/fears because of this. I actually didn't go to the second post-op after my 2003 lap because during our first post-op he seemed to be put out with me because I didn't qualify for one of the studies he was trying to involve me in. Additionally, he does not take Blue Cross Blue Shield for the Texas Teachers Retirement System, which basically excludes any teacher in Texas who would want to use his service.

Mary Ann FRANKEN recommended by JMoore :

Dr. Franken and Contemporary Women's Care have been helping me survive endometriosis since 2000. Up until Jan. 2007, she had tried to salvage my reproductive system in order to some day have children. She tried all of the traditional hormone, surgical, and "shot" methods out there. I actually had two more years than anyone expected before having to make the difficult decision to let it go. Dr. Franken is empathetic but frank. She made sure I was comfortable at every juncture and gave me the straight facts about my worsening condition. A plus for using this doctor is the wonderful staff she works with as well. Every member of her team calls you by name and is understanding of the pain and emotions of suffering with endo. I am impressed with them all.

Timothy Joseph HARDY recommended by Billie Saunders :

Dr. Hardy delivered my daughter 14 years ago, delivered my nephew and performed my mom's Hysterectomy. He did everything he possibly could to prevent a hysterectomy for me but it seemed inevitable. I am 35 with one child and have never been married so he did his best to save my uterus but with numerous surgeries for endo and fibroid tumors we made the decision to proceed with the hysterectomy. He is kind, considerate, comforting and trustworthy. The only way that I feel he could improve at all is to explain things more. You have to ask specific questions to get the answers you need and if you don't know the questions to ask you may be a little lost.

I was terrified to have surgery but he calmness made me a little calmer. All questions were answered and he carries a cell phone so in case you need him he is there... he's the best!

Dr. Lodes has been my gynecologist for over two years now. She does not treat you like a number, and is very thorough in looking over your past records and recommending appropriate tests. The first time I saw Dr. Lodes she spent an hour with me going over the considerable records I had transferred when I moved to Tulsa from Fort Lauderdale. Dr. Lodes gives you many reasons why she recommends a particular course of action. My situation is such that I need to have a hysterectomy later this summer, and I can't imagine any other doctor doing it. Dr. Lodes has excellent bedside manner and seems to genuinely enjoy helping people.

This doctor treated my endometriosis for years. She suggested many options and I tried every one before deciding to have a hysterectomy. She was also very patient and answered all my questions. And though her practice is very busy, she returned my calls in a timely manner. The most important reason I recommend her is that I had no issues nor bad side effects with my recovery.

I would highly recommend Dr. Paul Kramer Jr., MD. He is the assistant professor for the division of Gynecologic Oncology at Hershey Medical center. I was referred to him after my primary ob/gyn found micro invasive cancer cells shortly after the birth of my twin boys. Since he was not my regular doctor I was a little apprehensive about the surgery but quickly disappeared once I met him. This cheerful man with his light hearted, yet thorough approach to my condition, set my mind at ease. I found him to be extremely compassionate, friendly, and knowledgeable while being professional. He along with his nursing staff educated both my husband and myself about the options before us and his recommendations. The also took the time to answer all of our questions. I was so impressed with the initial meeting that I decided to go out my "network" and had him preform my surgery. Although I was not joyous about having a radical hysterectomy, I knew I was in good hands. The day of the surger... [More..]

Dr Cardenas is a great doctor. He delivered my daughter by emergency c-section and saved my life in the process. He recently performed a LarapscopicSupraCervical Hysterectomy, also taking both ovaries on me and it went great. If you want someone who gets right to the point and is willing to listen to you, he is the doctor you want! He is cheerful and truly concerned about the well being of his patients.

Arlene Bermachea COSCA recommended by LMorland :

Dr. Cosca performed a complete hysterectomy on me a week ago, and my rapid recovery is amazing everybody, including myself. She performed a new procedure, called a minilaparotomy, that evidently takes more time for the surgeon but results in vastly reduced healing time for the patient. I was able to attend a funeral 22 hours after the end of my surgery, and I was able to fly 6000 miles to join my husband in Europe four days afterwards! Dr. Cosca is also kind, intelligent, and thorough. She was just appointed the head of Kaiser's OB/GYN department in Oakland.

Dr Mcfarren has always shown care and concern for me, he has the ability to make you feel comfortable and has a soft touch. Guiding me in the direction that will benefit me the most in any given situation. He is an excellent, knowledgable clinician and surgeon. He encourages questions and takes the time to answer them. I trust him completely with my health. I see him for annual exams and he has done several surgeries on me. The last two included an endometrial ablation followed two years later by a LAVH (partial) with BSO due to regrowth of fibroids with bleeding. My recovery has always been excellent. And besides that he is just a nice guy

Dr. Venus delivered my 2nd child via c-section. He was always genuinly concerned for me and the baby throughout the pregnancy. I always felt important and of high priority as a patient at the practice. He is open and honest about why he feels certain things should be done, while allowing the patient to have input in decision making. There is a pleasant and open atmosphere at all times. Dr. Venus is very professional while reaching his patients on a personal level as well. I have never known a dr. I trust more!

Chad Richard WHITE recommended by Pam :

Where to begin!?! Dr. White is the last in a long list of gynos I have see over the last 7 years. I have a weight problem and most docs just looked at me like I was not worthy of their time. One even said "so, you're fat". Dr. White always made me feel at ease. He did everything humanly possible so that I could avoid a hyst. I told in 2004 I just wanted the surgery it was time and burst into tears. He refused; saying emotionally I really was not ready. I did not have any children and really wanted them. After many tests, medicaitons, trials, tears, sleepless nights and encouraging phone calls from Dr. White, I again told him in Dec 2005 I was ready for the surgery. It made sense since I still was not pregnant and was going to have surgery to remove a lobe of my thryiod in Feb. 2006 anyway. He "went along with it"; but said he reserved the right to find another way to end my pain. The morning of my surgery he arrived early to the hospital to make certain I was sure of my dec... Donald LANGE recommended by Cindy :

I am so glad I went to Dr. Lange. When I told him I was having an occasional spotting 8 years after menopause. He was very concerned and wanted to do a biopsy right a way. I am a nurse and other doctors thought it was a little overkill. I went ahead and had the biopsy and was diagnosed with Grade 1 carcinoma. Because of early detection I was able to get a hysterectomy with no chemo or radiation. He also has a terrific bedside manner. Was very helpful in referring an oncologist and sent pathology reports and physician notes to two different doctors when I wanted a second opinion.
