Dr. Mairs did my hysterectomy as well as other repairs. What impressed me the most was the way he really listened to what I said. For example: I told him my Mother had a bleeding problem with her hysterectomy(despite the fact that the lab tested her and said she would not be a bleeding risk) and was since considered a "bleeder." (In other words any time she has surgery she may need a blood transfusion.) Dr. Mairs had two units of blood ready in the O.R., just in case I followed her pattern. (I too tested fine with the lab) thankfully I did not need the blood during surgery. But, at least it was there. Unlike my Mother's surgery. (She nearly died waiting for her blood transfusion). Another example I will share (of many) is that whenever I had any problems or questions. (Even after the doctor's office had closed). I called the Doctor's office. Dr. Mairs has an answering service. If I was not sure what to do I would call the answering service for instructions. EVERY time I called the after hours answering service it was great. Dr. Mairs, himself called me back with instructions. He called me back within minutes. Last but not least of many other examples I will share. Dr. Mairs does not treat his patients by how much money or Health Insurance they have. I was an emergency Hysterectomy with no health insurance. Dr. Mairs is great about taking low payments and still treating you with the respect you deserve. (It is not like I expected my Uteris to prolapse at age 32 and end up in the O.R.) I am just thankful that Dr. Mairs was the doctor on call when this happened to me. Dr. Mairs even wrote the hospital where I had the surgery a letter for the finance department. The hospital wanted a lot of money up-front that I did not have. Thanks to Dr. Mairs, I was able to have my emergency surgery as well as a low income payment plan. I still have a few more bladder issues to repair. Dr. Mairs is doing them in his office for me rather than at the hospital. He is doing this for me because he knows that I am doing my best to pay for all of these services and it is much cheaper at the office than the hospital. I just cannot say enough great things about this doctor. He has respect for his patients and seems to really care for them, not just the money. His actions speak louder than his words. He is very soft spoken. Yet he is respectful and kind to anyone he deals with as a patient. Best of luck to you all.
