I began experiencing awful cramps and pain and went to my regular Ob/Gyn. After an ultrasound, they found an ovarian cyst. Since I didn't know much about ovarian cysts, or ever experienced one, I had many questions, only to be told "They will rupture or re-absorb." But not much info after that. After leaving my doctors office, I figured the pain would go away, less than 8 hours later I experienced the worst pain ever. My ovarian cyst was bursting. The next morning I called the doctor, only to be told by the nurse, "we'll call you in something." They only called in a heavy duty naproxen sodium--aleve--and never called me back after the other calls I made to their office for help. My husband was furious that I never received any phone calls from the doctor during the entire time. I decided to give her the benefit of the doubt and when I went back for the follow up, and explicitly told her about the lack of communication or compassion, she seemed to understand. She put me on the pill & told me it will all be okay now, but 6 months later, I began experiencing the same awful pain in my ovary. I was bent over in pain for hours unable to walk. I called my original doctor only to be told she was off for the day and her nurse was at lunch & that I could "leave a message"- I left one but then decided to call Dr. Crymes office. The original doctors nurse didn't call me back for 5 hours, however Lowcountry Ob/gyn saw me within an hour and believe it or not, but I had another cyst, the size of a plum!! Dr. Crymes was the most compassionate and understanding female doctor I've ever met. I understand that I wasn't pregnant or anything of the sort, however, at the first doctor I felt belittled to call and never educated on the process of an ovarian cyst rupture. Thank goodness for Dr. Crymes, she doesn't deliver babies (which is a good thing) so she's always there for those who are just looking for gynecological treatment. My recommendation is that if you want someone who takes their time with you, is honest, doesn't have their nurse communicate with you and doesn't rush out the door to birth babies, Dr. Crymes is the best doctor you can get.
