I had very bad experiences with 4 other gynecologists after I got my diagnosis and needed a hysterectomy. I knew what I wanted and needed that to be respected as my choice. I was very frightened initially and became more so after the trauma of the search process. Dr. Milkman was the last person I saw, and I have surgery scheduled with here. I am having a Supracervial Laporoscopic Hysterectomy was is controversial for my diagnosis. Because I have a traumatic background, that is the procedure I need done for now, with the choice for future surgery to be my choice. She immediately affirmed my decision as needing to be respected, and seems to come from a feminist perspective. I can see that her bedside manner and the degree of respect, kindness and warmth she has shown me has me entirely confident and trusting in her to do this frightening procedure, and that is saying a lot. Despite the somewhat cold atmosphere of her medical group office, once you get past that part, she is a treasure. The way she talked with me, explained my condition, was very thorough in insisting on finding all options, and never making me feel like just a "patient", was rare. I am confident in her skill level and heard of her good reputation at the hospital I will be in. She has changed my life already, and I am confident, despite the outcome of my biopsy, that she will be there for me after. I plan to use her as my gynecologist in the future, even though she is some distance from my home.
