I became a patient of Dr Gautreau’s shortly after she began practicing in Baton Rouge. I loved her immediately! She was very kind and personable. She saw me through a bout of unexplained infertility. She calmed my fears when I felt I would never be able to have a baby. And when I finally did become pregnant, she rejoiced with me! At 16 weeks gestation, my husband and I recieved the news that our baby had Down’s Syndrome or worse. Each week as the prognosis became grimmer, Dr. Gautreau comforted me. In a sense she knew how I felt having faced a couple difficult pregnancies of her own. She was so compassionate. At 20 weeks gestation I was put on bed rest and delivery became a week to week thing. At 32 weeks I was hospitalized with pre-eclampsia. And at 37 weeks and 1 day I gave birth to a 3 lbs 13.8 oz 151/4” long daughter. A miracle baby. Dr Gautreau was instrumental in making sure both my daughter and I remained as healthy as possible.
2 years later when I was expecting my son and the fear of my previous pregnancy overwhelmed me, Dr G was right there again. I made it to 28 week before I was out on bedrest with my son. And 31 weeks before I was hospitalized again with pre-eclampsia. Dr G delivered my heathy son at 36 weeks. She also performed a tubal ligation because she felt the risk of getting pregnant again would be detrimental for me or the child.
Recently she performed a partial hysterectomy. In true Dr G fashion she calmed my fears and made me feel more at ease.
She truly is an asset to Woman’s Hospital. I live 90 minutes one way from Dr G. She is well worth the drive. I tried going to a Dr closer to my home for convenience sake. She just can’t be matched. I truly feel that she makes each of her patients feel as though they are special and important to her. I highly highly recommend her.
