Dr. Zimmerman found a golf ball sized mass in my pelvis after I saw five different doctors, had a pelvic and abdominal CT scan, and a vaginal ultrasound. I had been sick and in severe pain and for two months without any answers. He takes a lot of time to talk to you and get your history. He treated me with compassion, telling me he believed me and knew how I had suffered. He was very gentle during the examination. He will be scheduling surgery for me within the next week. I had given up on finding a reason for my pain. If you are having pelvic pain you need to see Dr. Zimmerman. If I had seen him first I could have saved myself two months of agony.

Dr. Zimmerman performed a pelvic floor reconstruction on me almost a year after I had a hysterectomy, A&P repair and a bladder procedure. After "everything fell" that they had worked on with the prior combined procedures, I was upset and disgusted. I was so thankful to be referred to him. It turns out he is one of the top doctors in the country at pelvic floor reconstruction. Not only that, but he sincerely cares about his patients. He is gentle, comforting, and a Christian. When I had a complication (a possible PE) develop during the wee hours of the morning after my surgery, he was as upset as I was and took very good care of me. He explored all possibilities and followed up. I have worked in medicine for years, and recognize the difference between a doctor who "knows his stuff" and also has a caring attitude towards their patients, and those who don't. If you live anywhere in Tennessee, it is worth the trip to Vanderbilt to see Dr. Zimmerman.
