I came to see Dr. Dickerson for a third opinion and consultation after seeing a doctor unwilling to do surgery, and a surgeon that made me extremely uncomfortable.
I found Dr. Dickerson on Allina.com Doctor Finder. I wanted an OB/GYN who was a woman, and had an interest in hysterscopic and laparoscopic surgaries. She is also a "Fellow of the American College of Gynecologists."
My other doctors wanted to spend a year or so with the Depo-Lupron protocols, even after I told them "I am not going to do that."
I was impressed by her professionalism, her no-nonsense attitude, her ability to listen to what I wanted (while still making her own suggestions,) and her vast knowledge of the woman's body and all of the things that can go wrong.
During our consultation, she scheduled me for a Laporoscopy, just a "look-see" to see how bad things were. This was something that had never suggested to me before. Without hesitation, I went in for this procedure. Her manner before the surgary with me and after the surgary with my family was kind, straighforward, full of as many details as needed, and she took the time to answer as many questions as we had.
The Laporoscopy showed endometriosis (which she cauterized during the procedure,) and as well as the ovarian cysts, my uterus is twice the size that it should be and as high in my cavity as it can be.
At my post-op appointment/consultation, she basically said "let's take it all out," which is what I'd been waiting for. She carefully and thoroughly explained the benefits and risks of the procedure and left me feeling hopeful, for the first time in twenty-seven years that I may be pain free.
Her technical skill is without reproach, and would recommend Dr. Nancy M. Dickerson, MD to anybody. I travel 170 miles to see her, and it is worth every ile.
