I came to Dr. Peterson for a 2nd opinion regarding what to do about excessive bleeding and large, growing fibroids. I stayed with her to do my hysterectomy (TVH) and is now following me for a rectocele post-hyster. I recommend her because she is the most gentle examininer I've ever experienced. Very good listener. I feel very comfortable talking to her about very intimate issues! She explains things in very understandable ways and always with a diagram. There are many times I know she was running behind and quite busy, but she never made me to feel rushed. Always answered all my questions with patience. She's a couple times even delayed going to lunch to make sure all was done to my satisfaction. She's so down to earth, reassuring but not falsely so and is helping me be patient with healing when I all want to do is "FIX" the new issue.
The only "improvement" I can think of is to be a bit more thorough in pre-op and in procedure examining. Both Dr. P and I now suspect the rectocele was there all along. Although I have a history that could suggest other pelvic floor prolapse issues MIGHT have been present, a thorough check either before or during the hyster. was neglected. For medical reasons, Dr. P. did the surgery as fast as she could to minimize my time under general. However, she may have gone too fast. The current rectocele could MAYBE have been found in OR and corrected then, instead of possibly at some point in the future. I say all this with a caveat: NO ONE ELSE had thought to check for this possibility beforehand. Nor did I have symptoms indicating the presence of a rectocele. My belief is now purely 20/20 hindsight based on my pelvic floor history and the likely hood (stated by Dr. P) that it was there before the hysterectomy.
All in all, I highly recommend her. My daughter just turned 18 and I will be having her go to Dr. P. for her "first" exam. I am that confident that she will make it as easy an experience for my daughter as possible.
Thanks.
