Dr. Glaser is an OB/GYN in my town, and my experience with him has been truly outstanding. He's just been excellent with me! I first saw him as a random pick - he had the first open appointment, which was my only requirement at the time! What a blessing that has turned out to be! I had no idea when I made the initial appointment that he was so experienced in this field - 30+ years of experience, and he is the current chairman of obstetrics & gynecology at the hospital closest to my home (Rancho Springs Medical Center, in Murrieta, CA). He also has specific interests in HRT, Osteoporosis evaluation, and minimally invasive and robotic surgeries - all of these have become important to me in the past year.
My initial appointment was for abnormal uterine bleeding, which did not improve over the course several treatments with my GP. Due to coexisting mental health conditions, traditional hormonal therapies as a first line of treatment were out of the question for me and he was - and continues to be - very patient with me and understanding of that aspect, and cautious (without being TOO cautious) in his treatment suggestions.
But my body just rebelled against all efforts. After nearly a year, in which I had 17 menstrual cycles, he brought up the idea of hysterectomy as the most viable, best-option solution for me. As I have had all the children I wish to have,I agreed to it. Because there was suspicion of endometriosis as well, we chose laparoscopic da Vinci Robotic Hysterectomy, with vaginal removal of the uterus & tubes.
Pre-operatively he welcomed my husband to appointments, was thorough in his explanation of the surgery, and even encouraged me to watch online videos of the procedure if I thought it would make me more at ease. On surgery day, he came and checked in with me as I was being prepared for surgery, and he kept my family informed after the surgery as well. (It went great, by the way!)
Post-operatively, I did not see him again in the hospital that day (my procedure was outpatient - I went home in the afternoon), but I have now seen him in his office since then. I had to call for different/better pain management, and his office was stellar at getting the medication I needed, even though it was after hours.
About the only negative in my dealings with Dr. Glaser would be that my first post-op check seemed a bit rushed, and I would have asked more questions if I'd been better prepared. He was not incomplete in talking with me; we went over the pathology report and surgery notes, but it was so fast, and I didn't retain much of what was said... I didn't get the feeling that it was intentional, it felt more like, to him it was just another day at the office - almost like he didn't really realize I might have questions (and I didn't really realize it either, or I would have been better prepared). However, I will be going back in a couple more weeks and will have my questions ready.
