I have been Dr. Kaump's patient for 19 years. During that time he has seen me through a lot of serious health issues as well as 2 miracle babies. When I first went to him I was desperate for answers and in a lot of pain. Although it took him and the other doctors he contacted 5 years, he did not stop until he found an answer and solved the problem; my diagnosis was rare. Never once did he ever turn his back on me or my family, no matter how much I whined and drove him crazy, and trust me I did. After he repaired the fistula was determined to have another child, out of determination I contacted an infertility specialist out of the area. Most doctors would not stay involved, but he did and when I became pregnant he opened his arms to caring for the baby and I; 9 months later I gave birth to a beautiful baby boy who has his name. He held my son like he was his own, all 3 of us (my husband, Dr. Kaump, and myself) had tears of joy. Then when I got pregnant with our 5th child, he again stood by me. That pregnancy was very high risk and again he was there through it all, for not only medical but personal support. I also would like to say that his wife is pretty special as well, I took and still take a lot of time away from her and their children and yet she has understood. Over the years he has become more than a doctor to me, he is someone I respect and admire as a doctor, person, friend, and most importantly a mentor. After I am done with nursing school (thanks to his support and encouragement) I hope to have the opportunity to work side by side with him and gain much more knowledge from him. Any person who goes to him will get the best care he can give, as he truly is a brilliant surgeon, doctor, and all around person.
