I'm 53, and had very large fibroids and hydrosalpinges (fluid- filled fallopian tubes). One fibroid was at least the size of an orange, if not larger. The hydrosalpinges were even larger -- like two large, swollen sausages. I put off having a hysterectomy for over 20 years because I dreaded the thought of invasive, open surgery, the hospitalization, and the long recovery time.
Dr. Moore specializes in Minimally Invasive Surgery -- he performed a LAPRASCOPIC supra-cervical hysterectomy which was done on an OUTPATIENT basis. Because the cervix, vagina, and pelvic floor are unaffected by the surgery, the recovery time is much, much shorter and less painful. I went home the same day as the procedure, which saved me a large insurance co-pay, and I avoided a hospital stay. Immediately after the surgery, I was up and at 'em with no trouble at all. The surgery itself took less than an hour. I have four small incisions: one navel, three below bikini level, the largest being 1/2", so in a very short time the scars will be invisible. You can drive within days of having the procedure, assuming you're not taking any kind of medication that would affect your driving. Most patients are back to work within weeks.
Prior to meeting Dr. Moore, I had had at least four different surgeons tell me that a laprascopic procedure was not possible because it was "too dangerous." Well, it wasn't. They were telling me that based on their own skills and experience. Dr. Moore has been doing these surgeries for quite a few years now and he had no difficulty at all doing the surgery laprascopically -- it's his speciality.
Dr. Moore is one of the most caring physicians I've ever met. He was very straight forward, was able to tell me whether or not he thought I was a candidate for the procedure after a short physical exam that included a vaginal ultrasound, and he was very reassuring prior to and after the procedure. His staff has been working with him as a team for many years, which is a testament to his character. The day after the surgery, he called me personally to see how I was doing and to answer any questions I had. Honestly, I can't say enough good things about Dr. Moore, and I highly recommend him and this procedure. Google Advanced Women's Health and Dr. Moore and you should get his website which explains more about the procedure and will give you contact information.
Good luck!
