I've had years of gyn issues, and Dr. Dow has always been increadible. He's caring, he's professional, and he knows his business! He took care of me through a difficult pregnancy, stage 3 displasia, and recently through my LAVH/BSO. I had no fears whatsoever because I knew Dr. Dow knew what he was doing, he knew me, and I was absolutely confident in his skill both before, during and after surgery. I trust him absolutely.
He does only GYN now, but did OB for years also. I know he deals with a braod spectrum of issues, from hormones to cancer, he knows it all! In these days of drive through medicine, he is truly a man with a gentle and attentive bedside manner, he won't make you feel any question is stupid, and he takes all the time necessary to make sure all of your quesitons are answered and you feel comfortable before you leave his office with the informaiton you have. During proceedures, he makes sure you're okay with what he's doing, he talks you through it so you know what to expect, and he makes sure you're okay before you leave his office. He was equally helpful before surgery, making sure I was okay with what was going to happen, that I knew what to expect when i woke up, and as always, I knew I could call him any time I had a question or problem.
I am so grateful to have a place I can tell people about how amazing my doc is! For women half the battle is finding a doc you can trust and who you feel is capable no matter what you face. Dr. Dow is exactly that type of doc. I know other women who have him also and they rave as much as I do.
My only regret is now after surgery I won't need annual checkups with him, and I'm going to miss him and his nurse, Paula! I don't think there's anything he could do to improve, and I htink in later years when he retired, the medical community in Portland will lose a star.
