Dr. Merkel has been a beyond exceptional doctor to me in so many ways. He delivered my daughter, whom was healthy and perfect in every way. Throughout my pregnancy, any questions, concerns, or random worries no matter how absurd he was there to answer with no hesitation or waiting. Aside from my C section, he also performed a laporoscopy on me due to a large ovarian cyst. The surgery went wonderful and although it was so sudden I felt in complete ease knowing I was in his hands. Any issues I still continue to have with ovarian cysts I can call him and know that I will hear back within a few hours at most, and if need be have an appointment the same day as well. I highly recommend Dr. Merkel to anyone I know pregnant or not. He is amazing at what he does, and more importantly he cares.

Dr. Merkel has been my ob/gyn for 11 years now. He delivered both of my kids, he has been pretty much the only gynecologist I have seen. He gets to know his patients and he remembers them. Even 8 & 10 years after having my children, he still remembers details from their births. He remembers small details about my life that I have talked about & he seems genuinely interested. He is extremely friendly with a great sense of humor. He can make you feel at ease and comfortable in awkward situations & uncomfortable procedures. I would & have recommended him to everyone that I know. Unfortunately, my insurance has changed & I don't think he accepts it, which scares me. I really don't want to see anyone else, he knows everything about me, inside & out! Hopefully I can figure something out!! I followed him from Oakwood to where he is now. He is an absolutely wonderful doctor!!

He is just a very nice, pleasant knowledgeable man. Very caring.

I have always had women for my OBGyn care. I found Dr Merkel from a surgery I needed. Without a doubt, one of the most friendly, kind, thorough, and competent practioners I have ever met. He is the kind of doctor you want when you feel vulnerable or scared.

Dr. Merkel made what was a scary procedure for me, as easy as possible. He was professional and even managed to make me smile through the pain. When I was leaving the hospital he made a point of letting me know that I could reach him 24-7 with questions or concerns. I had an abdominal hysterectomy and all of my questions were answered as well what options were available to me. I woouldn't wish this surgery on anyone, but if it's your only option I would make him your first choice.

Dr. Merkel is a great doctor. He spends plenty of time with his patients and has a great sense of humor. He is also great dealing with husbands.

Dr. Merkel is a wonderful physician. When I went in for surgery dealing with uterine fibroids, it was not planned that I would end up having a hysterectomy, although he took the time to discuss everything about my surgery with me in detail prior to the day of surgery, and we discussed the possibility that a hysterectomy may occur. I do a great deal of research and he is/has never been offended, but always welcomes a patient who is knowledgable about her problem or disease. He would often run late to discuss my concerns and present every possibility. After the hysterectomy, Dr. Merkel visited my room after I left Recovery to make sure that I was in good condition. The following day (which was a Saturday), he returned and spent about 90 minutes with me discussing the proceedure, drawing illustrations and explaining everything to me in great detail. He even listened while I cried and walked with me in the hallway while I dragged my I.V., etc. to ensure that my mental state was stable.

My post-surgical visits were always positive and Dr. Merkel was very thorough in his evaluation and advise. Whenever I have any gynecological problem or routine appointment, I always leave feeling confident that I have had good care. He always has a nurse from the office call or he will personally call to report test results or concerns. Dr. Merkel is extremely knowledgable, communicative and trustworthy. In addiditon, he has a great sense of humor.
