Dr Ogden. He was the absolute light in our lives. My brother David was so gravely ill at age 16. Doctors at another CT hospital had no idea what they were doing. Lucky for us the infectious disease man told us so-- and said to bring him to Yale New Haven whre John Ogden saved David's life from an abscessed/infected hip no one could seem to find.. which had sadly, already destroyed his joint. He cared for David for several years through several other infectious nightmares.. and as another person shared he would just "show up" without being asked to check in - he was hilarious, got David's humor, balked the powers that were and CARED for his patients. He truly made pts well...

John Ogden was and is a god send! What an amazing person and surgeon. My son Edward C. Ziobron Jr. was Dr. Ogden's patient at Yale New Haven Ct. and Shriner's Tampa Fla. from the age of 9mths on. My son spent 30 days at Yale while getting serious staff infection under control which had nearly taken his life. Dr. Ogden after long days in surgery would "appear" in my son's room to console and council without ever having been called! Many Ct. families followed Dr. Ogden to Tampa and my son had two leg lengthenings done at 4 and 8years of age by Dr. Ogden. My son would ski double black diamond trails in Maine at age 12 and he is now 29 years old. Dr. Ogden always speaks respectfully to parents and patients treating us so well and joking to the extent he can with different people. I will never forget some of the times I would be "hanging on his every word" and he'd "get me good with a joke" which really succeeded in relaxing me and was extremely needed! I would love to share more about this exceptional world renowned pediatric orthopedic surgeon but I must teach my middle school Health class right now. My email is deb.ziobron @rsu34.org home phone( 207)827-0119

All grown up! I as well as my parents had the wonderful experience to have Dr. Ogden as my physician/orthopedic. Born with congenital hip dysplasia at a local CT community hospital, I was referred to Yale. We followed him for years, even all the way to Tampa Shriners. God really has annointed his hands, with plenty of wisdom to go with it. He will always be remembered and have a special place in our hearts! Thank you!

Dr. John Ogden had done a beautiful job in performing hip surgery on my 6 month old daughter, Kelly Anne; who suffered from Congenital Hip Disease in 1977. This was performed at Yale-New Haven Hospital.

Dr. Ogden, not only is a superb and efficient surgeon but, ALWAYS made the family feel welcomed and exhibited a phenomenal bedside manner. He comes highly recommended by my family and me.

Most sincerely,
Donna

I came under the care of Dr. Ogden in 1975 as a 6 year old child. I had a mysterious disease which resulted in the infection of ALL my joints (esp. my legs). I was on antibiotics at the time, which rendered all tests with false negatives, which left the doctors in a quandary.

When I arrived at Yale, other doctors had suggested to my parents that I get both legs amputated in order to save my life. Dr. Ogden refused that suggestion and began using a barrage of meds to kill the infection.

While other doctors thought I'd either die or lose the ability to walk, this wonderful man believed otherwise. Today, I'm a healthy 40 year old woman with two perfectly healthy legs. Although I have osteoarthritis in my joints due to that disease 34 years ago, it's minor when compared to the other options I faced. I can't begin to say how much i appreciate this doctor, and he determination to find ways to keep his patients functioning to their best potential.

Dr. Ogden was my orthopedic surgeon when he was at Shriners Hospital in Tampa, Florida during the late 1980's and early 1990's. I am an achondroplasia dwarf and my legs were very bowed and he performed the surgery to straighten them. He was the best doctor and had a great sense of humor!

I have taken my child to so many doctors since Dr. Ogden closed his Atlanta practice and have not been satisfied with her treatment. I would love to find out where Dr. Ogden is practicing now so I can have my child treated.
Don't think that just because you go to a doctor that they care and are thinking about the patient's best interest because most are not. Dr. Ogden thinks outside of the box...what I mean is, if you go in with back pain but the pain is deferred from another location he will investigate until determining the source of the pain. I took my daughter to so other doctors that only checked the back and said "I can't see anything wrong" and sent us away with nothing else - no suggestions or anything. They spent 10 minutes of their time after we had spent 2 hours waiting on them. It is so very frustrating.

I have known Dr. Ogden for 39 years when he was at Yale New Haven Hospital in CT. He treated my brother, Nickey, back then and became very good friend of ours. He is the top or one of the top orthopedic surgeons in the country. When my daughter was born I called him and he treated her then. Then when my daughter was 12 I contacted him again, only this time he was down in Atlanta. Without hesitation he had me send her films and arranged for her to come down there to be treated by him. The surgery she had was very complex, requiring a 5 day hospital stay, she was out within 2. He not only is a great surgeon, he has a wonderful bedside manner and is a kid at heart. I often refer to him as my adopted brother and wish he was back at Yale where I could see more of him and more patients CT patients will benefit from his experties. Before having any orthopedic surgery I highly recommend you contact him and see what he has to say.
