Dr. Laband performed my complete hysterectomy on October 6, 2009. He was both my surgeon and gynecologist and I've been his patient for almost 2 years. I probably needed this surgery for at least seven years but I was afraid and wanted to try every alternative before committing to that. Dr. Laband was open minded and really allowed me to be a part of my treatment. When we decided that it was time to throw in the towel, he made sure I was very well informed. Dr. Laband is a perfectionist in the operating room and believes in doing the least amount of tissue damage possible. Because of endometriosis, it was necessary to do an abdominal but my incision was only 3 1/2 to 4 inches. I was able to leave the hospital on Thursday (my surgery was Tuesday). By Saturday I was off all pain medication, including Motrin. Dr. Laband has a passion for his profession and is deeply interested in his patients. He takes every concern seriously and his staff (particularly his nurse Anel) are fantastic. He would call me at 9:30 or 10:00 at night just to check on me. When I went in for my surgery I felt like I was part of a team and that I was extremely prepared. He made sure we had discussed all the options for hormone therapy and that everything was prepared for me to start as soon as I went home from the hospital. I just cannot speak highly enough of what a difference he made! I am way ahead of the curve on healing and other women I know are so surprised at how well I'm doing.
