After suffering from ages12-till 38 with endometriosis and nearly dying from a completely blocked intestinal tract, AND having been told by other gastros that I had IBS, Dr. Mathias saw me in 2000 and my life completely changed. I have insulin sensitivity caused by the endometriosis, and I now have a very regimented diet, medication and try to control stress. I wanted to die so many days from the pain that was like the transitional stage of labor and wanting to bear down only to be told I need more fiber and exercise. ONLY Dr. Mathias correctly diagnosed me with a neural dysfunction of the colon that results in debilitating pain and spasms. Medication and diet have literally saved my life. I thank God every day for him. He is an active listener, he explains what is chemically occurring in the digestive tract, is patient and so kind. The episodes of pain occurred at any time and could not be predicted. On some days I had episodes that lasted 12 hours without stop, and then maybe a day off, and all of that would start again. I screamed and yelled and my children heard me go through this growing up, which I hate. THEN Dr. Mathias changed all of that. How do you say enough about a clinician who changes your entire life so that you HAVE a life? Comforting does not say enough...he feels like a father figure to me and I owe him everything. I have been seeing him for 15 years and I am so thankful for finally receiving the appropriate diagnosis and treatment. He conducted a study about the endometriosis and insulin sensitivity connection at Pennsylvania University in conjunction with University of Texas Medical Branch and published the results of his research which supported his position. Many doctors have looked at me when I say I have insulin sensitivity like I'm crazy but I'm the one that's getting the help instead of all the poor women who are being told they have IBS. Additionally, he treats women who have not had endometriosis but still have abdominal pain, distention, bloating, difficulty with bowel evacuation, etc. He could change YOUR life!

I had seen 2 doctors before Dr. Mathias. One wanted to send me to a surgeon. The second doctor was one of the best in the city, promised he'd fix me, but couldn't seem to and couldn't figure out what was wrong. After 2 colonoscopies, scores of medicines including the horrible prednisone, all to no avail, someone recommended this "last resort" doctor. After a year of problems, a change in diet was all it took to right me. This man is a genius and I'm forever grateful!

Dr. Mathias is my angel! He figured out my gastro disorder after 7 mos of suffering and two surgeries. I thank God everyday for him. I went to two other gastros that said they couldnt find anything wrong with me.

Dr. Mathias is an excellent doctor in the care of endometriosis. He has insight into the care of women with this disease. He is truthful and honest. I highly recommend him if you are ready for the road of recovery to good health.
