I have been a patient of Dr. LaBarre since I was a shy 18 year old newlywed. He was so gentle during my first exam and made me laugh (he has a great sense of humor) but also listened to me and took me seriously.
Not even a week later, he again listened to me when my symptoms worsened and got me to the hospital just in time and performed emergency surgery that probably saved my life.
He also got me through infertility and loss. When I lost my first pregnancy, he was so compassionate and what he told me at that point was so sweet, it really did ease the blow at least a little.
He then saw me through 3 more pregnancies one of which was another loss and one of which got a little complicated. When he wasn't going to be able to attend my second child's birth, he told me well in advance and when my hormones got the best of me and I cried, he hugged me and tracked down the Dr. who was going to fill in for him and made sure I was comfortable with her. (Dr. Sockrider who is part of his practice and also awesome.)
I have been having increasing problems over the years and he has always listened and we have made decisions about the best course to take together. He has never made me feel pressured to do one treatment or another and has respected my beliefs regarding my medical treatment. He also now communicates via email and is very quick to respond.
His staff has always been amazing. They answered my million and a half phone calls through my 1st successful pregnancy and were always very patient with my neurosis realizing what I had been through to get that point. When I called each time I got a positive pregnancy test, they all knew that I needed to be seen quickly and would make sure and get me in that day for bloodwork. When I suffered my 2nd loss, one of his nurses sat out in the waiting room and held my hand and made sure I was going to be ok to get home.
I know this is long, but as far as Dr's go, I cannot recommend his office or him enough. It is such a rarity to get such a combination of true talent, skills (surgical, medical, communication and interpersonal relation) and compassion from a practice so I really want people to know what a great choice they would be making in choosing this practice.
