Bad Economy and Depressed Mood
|
With more and more people being laid off every day, no wonder more and more people are experiencing symptoms of sadness and depression, with a sense of lack of control over their lives and their future. Whereas some grief is expected when you experience job loss and with it a sense of your identity, it should not throw you into severe depression. If you are experiencing a major change in your mood , a daily downward spiral of sleeplesness ( because of excessive worry ) and lack of any appetite with subsequent weight loss, a major decline in your energy level, and with it any desire to do anything but lay in bed all day, a loss of pleasure in small things like time spent with your children or friends, thoughts of ending it all, excessive guilt ans self blame and self depreciation, and extended functional impairment as a result, then it is time to seek help. Human beings are designed to be resilient in the face of major tragedies however some of us are more reislient than others ( blame it on the genes or the environment we were brought up in ). So if you are struggling in your life and you feel trapped in your situation and there seems no way out, please get some help, you and your family deserve it. Talk to someone , a trusted friend or a family member, remember economy is not singling you out , everyone is affected by it. When that is not enough seek professional help.
