Within weeks after moving across the state, I received news from my previous OBGYN that I needed a hysterectomy. I needed to find a new GYN, and I happily found Dr. Richards.
During my first visit, I did wait quite some time for him to see me, but when he came in the exam room he was patient, thorough, and took time to answer every single question that I had. He and his staff took pains to get my test results from my previous OBGYN and create a plan of action as swiftly as possible. Dr. Richards has never once been patronizing, has never brushed off my concerns, and has always gone above and beyond to provide the best care, putting me at ease every step of the way. He has been in practice for 20 years and still keeps up with the latest developments in his field. A very kind, patient doctor, he always makes me feel at ease.
As my surgery date approached, he and his staff remained in contact and remained helpful. On the day of my surgery, he reassured me that he was completely confident that the surgery would go well and did what he could to help me relax. I felt like I was in extremely good hands when I was being prepped for surgery at Deaconess Hospital. My hysterectomy went perfectly, without a single complication. Dr. Richards was very thorough in explaining what happened during surgery to my partner, which was very appreciated. The doctor kept me in the hospital for observation overnight because he wanted to ensure that everything was going as it should. He visited me the next day and was again a calming, confident presence.
At post-op appointments he was very forthcoming with pathology reports and the operative report, explaining findings and taking care to make me comfortable through a necessary post-op exam. Overall, he is an absolutely fantastic doctor. As I mentioned before, the wait inside the exam room might be a little long, but it is absolutely worth it because Dr. Richards genuinely takes his time with each and every patient.
His office is very nice, lots of seating and with helpful staff. The building does have a paid parking garage, but the receptionists happily validate (and are excellent at reminding you that they’ll validate so that you don’t have to pay out of pocket!). I can’t recommend Dr. Richards and his staff enough – this office will be my source for GYN care for as long as I am in Spokane!
