I had my kids with a GP. Referred by the GP to Dr. Gates for a tubal ligation. Then a couple of years later I had a D&C and I was followed for excessive bleeding which I just dealt with by diet and exercise. Finally diet and exercise didn't do enough and I needed medical intervention. Went in to his office and asked if he would do a hysterectomy. He had no problems performing a total hysterectomy on a 40 year old woman and suggested a laparoscopic procedure, which takes more time (and had a lower reimbursement from insurance). Within three weeks I was in the OR having the surgery. I was really impressed with my recovery time compared to friends who had the traditional abdominal cut. Three days after my surgery I was walking around the store and out to lunch. (Not like I was supposed to be doing that... but groceries don't buy themselves).
Besides being a skilled surgeon he has a good personality. Dr. Gates also phones his patients to check up on them rather than having the office nurse do it. I really think he is a proactive physician who cares about womens' health.
