Dr Caldwell has been my Doctor for 14 years. When I first started seeing him, I was certain I would only have a female attending and that I was only meeting him to get it out of the way in case he was on call for my delivery. Clinic scheduling or fate, I don't know, but he was the only provider available for my next three appts toward the end of my pregnancy. I ended up loving him as a provider and finding he listened the all of mine and my husbands concerns and provided real thought to his responses. He never had his "hand on the door" asking if I had questions, but truly sat down each visit and made sure he addressed them all. I had a history of sexual trauma that made exams very hard, he worked through this with me for several years, offering me whatever supports I needed, whether it was my husband present, a nurse in the room (or not if I preferred) and talking me through everything he did so I would never feel surprised. He delivered both of my children, one was an unplanned Cesarean after a long induced labor and failure to descend, the other was planned Cesarean. He was great through both experiences, even stayed by my side for hours at a time during a long labor.
I kept with him through the years for my primary female care and he has since seen me through a very difficult year of problems that resulted in 3 surgeries in under a year. The last one being a total hysterectomy and bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy. He has always been a great listener, warm and compassionate, and willing to take my feelings and perspective into consideration. He is not quick to just recommend the easiest solution, but rather to try different things to find the solution that suits his patient best. He will return phone calls personally when asked to, (but has very competent nurses also) he was very attentive during two recent hospital stays. I would recommend him for both general OB/GYN care as well as for other problematic GYN conditions that need solutions, he is good at trouble shooting and truly wants to help you feel better. This last surgery was so overwhelming that I asked him if he would hold my hand as I was being put to sleep, and he did. He has a warm soul and I would recommend him to anyone, whether you are new to being a GYN patient or just looking for a change.
