Dr. Somani was recommended to me by my sister who has been her patient for >10 years. I needed advice regarding ongoing pelvic pain/endometriosis and hx of mother who died of ovarian cancer under the age of 50. I myself am 49 and my family doctor felt it was time for a total hysterectomy and BSO. I felt very comfortable with Dr. Somani from my very first appt. She went over options, her recommendations, answered all of my questions, actually asked what my greatest fear was about having this surgery. I finally proceeded with the Davinci surgery (a year later when I felt ready) as it seemed to have the least "down time". I am now 1 1/2 weeks postop and am very satisfied. Not only was she compassionate and patient, every medical person at Riverside Hospital was great. I have no complaints, no complications, no regrets.

I highly recommend Dr. Anita Somani. I feel I was divinely led to her when I was diagnosed with an ovarian mass that could possibly be cancerous. My GYN that I was going to since my babies were born (26 years ago) did not make me feel comfortable with the proposed surgery that would include the removal of my last remaining ovary simply because it was easier to do the laproscopic procedure if the ovary was not saved otherwise he would do a full abnominal surgery. I just wanted a second opinion and I was led to Dr. Somani. She made me feel so comfortable and she was so reassuring that she would do whatever I felt comfortable with even if that meant leaving a small piece of my ovary after removing the cyst/tumor and created a much more complicated surgery. In the end I chose her to do my surgery and decided to have the ovary tube and cyst removed but I felt it was purely my choice. The tumor was a dermoid and non cancerous thank heaven. She did the procedure with just 3 very small incisions and I recovered very quickly with hardly any downtime. She is so reassuring with a lovely personality and very confident and is extremely talented. She is someone you can trust your life with.

She fixed me! That sums it up. I was 35 about to have a hysterectomy due to unbearable menstral cramping and discomfort. She perfomed minor surgery to remove fibroids and I have not had cramps since. I even had my first child one year later with very bad morning sickness...she even fixed that and I was told nobody gets rid of morning sickness. Dr. Somani did!

Anita Somani is a wonderful doctor. I should thank god to give me such a wonderful doctor. I am a patient of her. When I was pregnant she is the one who is on myside with all positive attitude. We can talk to her everything that you feel about your pregnancy she will explain and thats what is needed for a patient. That makes me feel so comfortable. Even for oncall responses her answers are wonderful you can relax and be calm after you talk to her.
I should Thank my friends and colleagues who suggested me to go to her.
I know many of my colleagues go to her and all of them are so happy.

I was Dr. Somani's patient on Valentines day 1990 when she delivered my son and proceeded to go into labor and deliver her child moments after. Even though my child was born with medical issues, she was in labor, and things were very stressful, she kept me calm and did a great job. I havent seen her since we had our children that day but still remember thekindness and caring she showed me when my child was taken to another hospital and she was across the hall with hers. Not only did she give me great medical care then, she has been in my heart ever since. I would suggest her to anyone who wants a caring doctor who knows her stuff.

I have been her patient for over ten years and have always felt like she reads my entire file before she walks into the room to talk to me. Most recently she diagnosed my IC when I had been to a urologist and he told me that all of my pain was in my mind. This woman is compassionate, she listens to your troubles and offers sound advice. I never feel like a number or that I am being rushed through. She also found my sister-in-laws breast cancer when a mamogram could not find it, she was persistent with further testing to catch this deadly disease early. Her diligence and experience are first notch.
