I suffer from induced menopause due to having a complete hysterectomy. I knew that if I needed hormone replacement therapy I wanted to do bioidentical. I had been to several "wellness" physicians who specialized in this area but always ended up either being overdosed or under diagnosed which left me never feeling well. I finally joined hystersisters and found a lot of information concerning bioidenticals and gynecologist being the best suited to take care of these issues. I scheduled with Dr. Syal and on my initial appointment with him, knew he was the one! Dr. Syal is very experienced in this area and understood fully how I was feeling and took care of me immediately. I now am on the road to feeling well and would highly recommend this doctor and the wonderful staff. Thank you so much for making me feel whole again.

I went to Dr Syal for my annual well woman and mammogram. He was very professional and spent well time with me about questions and concerns. When I asked Dr Syal questions I told him to answer as if I was his sister, daughter wife etc I felt he gave me his honest options as if. I also enjoyed talking about the BRCA 1 and 2 gene and it's significance. I am a firm believer in prevention and Dr Syal was as well. I will highly recommend Dr Syal! Just have your questions ready and do a little homework, I forgot a couple of things but plan to e- mail him about them.

When I became pregnant in 2003 I bagan looking for an OB. My sister had her children by midwives and had two home births. We liked a lot of things about her births but wanted to deliver in a hospital just in case. We asked many people we knew who they recommended and three different people told us about Dr Syal (including the CNM my sister used). All of my pregnancies were natural births. Dr. Syal never made me feel like I was rushed. I did not want him to break my water to speed things up or anything. He trusted me to know my own body. All the nurses that I have had at Woodlands Memorial all spoke highly of him and worked well with him during the birth. The nurses and other staff in his office are all very nice and helpful. As other patients mentioned he always answers your questions and never makes you feel rushed. One of my biggest concerns was that I wanted him at the birth if at all possible and he was at all three of my childrens birth (even when one was born in the middle of the night). When delivering a baby you are trusting the doctor with your life and your childs. I have three children and one on the way. I trust Dr Syal and have not even considered using anyone else.

I went to Dr, Syal after seeing the same Gyn for 17 years. WOW! Wish I would have made the change a lot sooner. Dr. Syal gives you the time you need and doesn't seem to over schedule his patients. He is professional and has a great sense of humor. I had a complete hysterectomy and have had absolutely no problems. He's AWESOME! Thanks, Dr. Syal!

I have been a patient of Dr. Syal's for about 6 years. I absolutely love him!!!! If every doctor I came in contact with could be like him...life would be wonderful!

He is so caring and his bedside manner if impeccable. I was referred to him by a friend, and it was the best recommendation ever.

I feel like he really takes the time to listen to what you have to say and he doesn't seem hurried during your visit. He is very laid back but professional as well.

I am moving to California and if I could, I would fly back here to have him as my doc. I only hope I can find someone as awesome as Dr. Syal.

Dr. Syal is a life saver!!! mine and my husband's hero!! On april 4th, 2008 what was to be a routine c-section turned into a 4 1/2 hour emergency life saving event. My placenta was stuck to my uterine wall (Placenta Acreta) and I began to hemmorage. Dr. Syal arranged an excellent team of Dr's to work by his side to do everything possible to save me. Which he did. During this time, he made my husband very at ease and was very helpful and compasionate-giving my worried husband updates as quickly as he could. I was in ICU for 4 days then transferred to the maternity ward to be with my little girl. Dr. Syal saw me all time and explained everything to me in great detail. I always recommned Dr.Syal and his staff to everyone I know. Everyone in his office is wonderful and they all have great personalities and sense of humor. They always made me feel at ease during and after my pregnancy. His nurses call back fast and with the answers i was looking for.

If you want the best care with compassion and knowledge-Dr.Syal is that Dr.

Dr. Syal saved my life and we will forever be indebted to him.

Regards,
Margaret Castillo

Our story>
On Wednesday June 4, 2008 my huband, 4y/o daughter, mother-in-law & I went to my midwife for a 17 week ultrasound to find out pink or blue. The visit started off normal as can be. We all cried w/joy when we saw it was a BOY! Soon into the rest of my ultrasound we could see something was clearly not normal. The tech said she thought severe spina bifida or Dandy Walker. The overwelming emotion went from joy to shock...heartbreak & saddness. My midwife came in & told me she would have to release me to a high risk. We did indeed want a 2nd oppion & that following Monday we got in with a Dr. at St.Luke Medical Center Downtown. And just when we thought it couldn't get worst, it did. It was not either of the 2 syndromes, in fact it was a severe case of an Neura Tube Defect known as Encephelacele and our son also has a degenative heart condition. Outcome was not looking good for us or our son. The Dr. had told us we would be lucky to have our son last another few weeks in the womb & an even smaller chance of any survival outside the womb. My husband & I were forced to make the hardest decision of our lives. We made the decision to end the pregnancy & at this time I was 18 weeks ( thats 4 and a half months!) I was referred to many Dr.'s but only ones who wanted to preform a D&E (somewhat different from an D&C) so basically it was a 3 day abortion. I was stressed to the max & so determined to be induced & have our son naturally. It seemed for 8 days I would have every doc from all over Houston to Seatle, Baltimore, St. Louis & N. California slam a door in my face. Everyone wanted to take the easy...or in my own word "morbid' way out. Exausted & feeling helpless I finally got a call from a nurse at Dr. Syal's office saying she had received my medical files & the Doc would be willing to see me. I felt a huge sense of relief, though still scared of another let down I made the appointment. My appt. with him was June 12, 2008 & he scheduled me in for a natural induction on Monday June 16, 2008. After 12 long hours our son Mason James was born. Dr. Syal was by my side & was the only one willing to help us do the right thing. Yesterday June 20, 2008 my husband & I along w/close family & friends layed him to rest. The process was peaceful. We are still mourning the loss of our son & we know it will be a long journey ahead. After seeing our son...fingers, toes, sweet face, nose & lips...he was a baby. I couldn't imagion not having him the way he was born. Knowing he will never suffer or be put in a tube, we know in our hearts we did the right thing. We are not giving up & we will continue to use Dr.Syal for our further plans with having more childeren. He is a caring, amazing man w/grace & incredible beside manner.

Dr. Syal is my first and only OB/GYN! I will never waste time looking for another doctor when someone who makes me feel this comfortable with a generally uncomfortable experience is out there! He is casual, friendly, informative, and the best thing about him is he doesn't do a lot of touchy-feely (beyond what the profession requires!) He isn't rude nor does he rush you through the visit. I have a healthy 4-yr-old and an AMAZING, almost-invisible C-section scar from his care. Thanks, Dr. Syal!!

Dr. Syal was recommended to my by a friend- who was referred to him by another friend. The year I was pregnant I was at a holiday party and it turned out every woman there was a patient of Dr. Syal's. I also met several women in my breastfeeding class that were patients, too. One was a nurse that was driving from College Station to The Woodlands to see him. I've moved an hour away from his office now, but when we have another- I'll be making the drive. He is truly compasonate and caring. He has a wonderful bedside manner and makes you extremely comfortable. He's even got a great sense of humor! He truly is the BEST!

My baby had some unexpected medical problems upon her arrival and spent several weeks in the NICU. Even beyond my own hospital stay, Dr. Syal checked on us regularly, helped translate things to plain english for me, and was generally very compassionate and helpful. Months later, when he heard a presentation on a new scientific technique that might be of help to our daughter, he had one of his nurses get my email addess so he could send me the info and all the contact details for the researchers. Not only a great doctor but just a really GOOD GUY.

I have seen numerous gyno's over the years and he is BY FAR the best Dr. I have EVER seen. I have a history of numerous miscarriages and tried for 2 years before I finally had my son. He was very understanding when I said that we had started trying to have a second one. He ordered blood work (that was done in the office) to make sure that I was ovulating. He said he didn't want to wait 2 years for the second one, and he wanted to make sure I didn't need to take any kind of medication to help me ovulate.
He actually listens when I say things, he doesn't try to put me in a catogory of one size fit's all. He will stay in the room with me answering questions as long as I need him to. I have never felt rushed by him or any of the office staff. He made me feel at ease by cracking jokes with me on my first visit before my exam. He is just a down to earth man, and all around great doctor.

I started seeing Dr. Syal at 7 month. with my first son. I was in labor for 8 days and by the time my son was ready he had no heart beat. Dr. Syal work with care and compassion. With out him I would not have my son who is now 9 years old. Also he saved my 2nd son who my body could not handle carrying. I would recommend him to everyone I have 3 beautiful boys and 1 on the way and I don't trust anyone but Dr. Syal.

Dr. Syal was the third ob/gyn I saw in less than a month. I was having gynecological problems and he was the only one who was interested in partnering with me, rather than just trying to slap me with a one-size-fits-all solution. He was recommended to me because he stays current on all of the latest research and procedures. I soon learned he's also a laparoscopic specialist. He did my laparoscopic hysterectomy and I am thrilled with his skills and the care I'm receiving.
