Dr. Brotzman performed arthroscopic surgery on my right knee to resolve issues with a torn meniscus. I also had a lot of arthritis (including a hole in the cartilage all the way to the bone. Dr. Brotzman performed the surgery using the latest techniques that included using only two incisions instead of three so as not to cause issues with the muscles around the knee.
Dr. Brotzman is the author of "Clinical Orthopaedic Rehabilitation" which is a textbook that is used to teach orthopaedic surgeons.
Dr. Brotzman is friendly, nice, experienced and not afraid to be honest with you about your situation. He never fails to make me laugh about something. I have always felt comfortable with his opinions. In fact, I later injured the "good" knee and immediately went back to Dr. Brotzman to get his opinion on that knee. After X-Rays and an MRI, it turned out to be some soreness in the IT band that only required time and a bit of physical therapy to heal. I trusted his opinion and he was right.
Dr. Brotzman does a lot of work with athletes in the Austin Area including UT baseball pitchers. I know that because many of them have signed photos for him to hang on the wall.
I was asked today for a recommendation on an orthopaedic surgeon in the area and I immediately recommended Dr. Brotzman. In fact, every time I pass by his office with someone else in the car, I also point at the building where he works and give them a recommendation to see Dr. Brotzman in case they are ever in need of an orthopaedic surgeon.
Dr. Brotzman specializes in sports injuries, especially arthroscopic procedures on knees and ankles. I highly recommend that you see him or have him give you a second opinion if that's what you need.
