After the birth of my first child (and a resulting dropped uterus), the primary OB/GYN recommended an immediate hysterectomy once I was done having children. Dr. Badway strongly opposed that saying there was no need until there was a true medical reason for doing so. He just performed a total vaginal hysterectomy with A/P repair - 21 years later. Before the surgery (as always) he came in with his total caring, calm demeanor to explain what was going to happen and answer any questions. I looked at my husband and said, "See why I like this doctor?" As my husband said, "He really cares about his patients and is straightforward."

I highly recommend Dr. Badway. I just wish he still operated in closer South Hills' hospitals and not just UPMC.

I have been a patient of Dr. Badway's since I became pregnant with my first child in 1990. Though he did not deliver my children (he wasn't on call when I went into labor), he provided excellent care during the pregnancy and in the post-childbearing years. In 2005, at age 47, I chose, finally, to have a complete hysterectomy after years of heavy bleeding that limited my ability to enjoy activities with my family. Dr. Badway performed the surgery and my recovery was "textbook" -- I had no problems and my post-operative care was exceptional. In the 16 years he has been my physician, he has always treated me with the utmost respect. He genuinely cares for women. I would recommend Dr. Badway to women of all ages.

I spent an entire summer feeling sick and every doctor I saw treated me like I was on a production line. I couldn't get my regular gynecologist to see me when I discovered something was very wrong. I was very lucky when I found Dr. Badway. I had always preferred a female gynecologist, but Dr. Badway was so incredibly human and sincere. In a manner that made me feel hopefull and safe in his care, he told me I had cervical cancer and would have to have a complete hysterectomy. Throughout he was very attentive and comforting. He made me feel like I'm sure he has patients that are far more in need of attention than I am but he didn't make me feel that way. I've dealt with enough doctors to know when you find a good one.
