I have a very complicated medical history. I was referred to Dr. Hightower after another referred gynocologist sent me to him following her examination. From the moment that he walked into the room I felt a sense of knowing I would be in good hands with his care. There has not been a question that Dr. Hightower has not been a visit with him that he didn't sit down and listen and talk and discuss every aspect of everything I am going to have to endure. I have what was classified as an ovarian cystic mass. When it was first noted on a CT scan it was half the size it is now. I was not told of this mass until it was more then double in size. The day after I was told I began to run a very high fever during a UTI and went to the ER to find out that this mass had grown to the point that it has shut off my ureter and that the UTI had gone to my left kidney. I needed immediate surgery to place a stint so that I could heal the infection and to keep me from becoming sicker. Within 3 weeks I was seeing Dr. Hightower to discuss the next course of action. Although we have not done surgery yet, he is very patient and wants to take his time in finding out what this mass is before we operate. We do know that an operation is inevitable and that I will have a total hysterectomy but what we don't know is if this is related to my colon or not. Dr. Hightower does not want to wait too long to do surgery because of the risks of ovarian cancer since I do have an elevated CA125 but he is very cautious because I have a colon history and he does not want to get into problems without knowing what is involved. I feel very comfortable with his opinion and knowledge. I do not believe I need any more opinions and I feel that he is more then capable of handing anything that he is faced with for my surgery. He is very soft spoken, truly concerned for me as an individual and very eager to be of any help that he can to make me feel at ease and inform me of anything that might arise. I know you will feel the same when you go to see him also. Thanks for listening!
