Dr. Burdette has been my primary care doc for about 12 years. This past Feb had some severe stomach pains and ended up in ER. Dx Pancreatitis (based on blood work) but ER doc saw some fluid in pelvic area. Went to see Doc Burdette on Monday, she immediately contacted my Gyn and Gasto docs for checkup. Had ERCP for Pancreas (all clear) Gyn did pelvic, nothing there. Continued to have pain in stomach andpelvic and also had a 1 1/2 day "period" had not previously had one for 6 years. Back to gyn he did a endiometrial biopsy, still nothing. I asked him to do a transvaginal ultrasound, but he said he didnt "feel" anything there so no need to do test. I immediately left his office and went to see Dr. Burdette, she disagreed with my Gyn and ordered test. Two days later a mass 10 x 15 cm was found on my ovary. I asked her to try and get me into another Gyn who was also a surgeon, as well as her husband. Dr. Burdette was able to get an appointment for my three days later. Another CT scan was performed along with viewing the transvaginal ultrasound and it was determiend that I had ovarian cancer probably Stage 3. I had a total hysterectomy on April 8 and am currently undergoing chemo. Luckily my diagnosis was Stage 2 A,so it was caught early.
I told Dr. Burdette that I was so grateful that she listened to me when my gynocologist of 35 years did not. She said that is what a doctor is supposed to do. You know when something is not right in your body and you can't always "feel" things.
I wouldn't go anywhere else for my medical care than Dr. Michell Burdette of Charleston, WV
